I've been meaning to make a thread about this since I noticed a lot of plumage on the fall runways, but Style.com beat me to it....better late then never I guess.

This trend is so dramatic - definitely for the night only.
And it is really easy to go over board and end up looking like Big bird :ninja:

I am loving the pieces from Balenciaga and Costume National.

i dont like this trend at all.

good spotting, spike :p
Yeah, I['m actually a little torn on it myself. On the one hand I love the way Balenciaga did it mixed with the ruffled organza, it gave ostrich feathers a new look. But the Dolce, Cavalli and Valli looks are all just a little too showgirlish.....and don't get me started on the Chanel looks, they look like crows!

love it...but then i'm into any material that's weird and exotic...i guess it really depends on how you use it...or how not to use it...prime example being the chanels...you gotta love lagerfeld for his exuberance ...i mean a gown slash mop slash duster! dang! when they talk about timeless feminity they really mean it!

I really like some of these. I love the Chanel in the top right (short black dress, coat with only the fringe of feather at the bottom and the cuff, not the furry bathrobe). I also found this Monique Lhuillier dress on the Style.com feather trend slideshow. I thought Prada also had peacock feathers on some of their things? Like hats and a skirt? But I didn't see any in their F/W show... Maybe it was a different season?

I love feathers! Although I really shouldn't, because its kind of bad for the animals. But not as bad as fur... :innocent:

feathers are FABULOUS and FUN....:woot:

imo....:p

Yeah, that was the s/s collection.

Great thread as always Spike! :flower:

I absolutely hate this trend, it's a bit too "flamboyant" for my taste, but if done in an expected way, like at Balenciaga, it can be quite interesting.

i love feathers when done subtly, so as to *add* to a dress and not *overcome* it... like as trim.... the balenciaga dresses are really beautiful, but it would be SO HARD to wear that and not get a few "quacks" from those around you...

I love these Roger Vivier shoes!

**EDIT: PIC DELETED. MISSING CREDITS.**
