Felipe Oliveira Baptista S/S 07 Paris

the heads actually resemble the last Alena Akhmadulina collections....

Not too keen on this. Imo, it's not even avant-garde in a wearable sense.
Coats are at times, good but on the whole, not phantastic.

i like it a lot!!! but some looks remind me too much of balenciaga (last two seasons)

I like the way he has taken forms and used them as body cocoons - the garments look like they stand away from the body and I kind of like that.... like outer shells or something...

omg this collection is a good mix of AsFour, Balenciaga, helmutLang and I love the hat...
I guess this is futuristic Peau d'Ane... (well the hat is for sure influenced by Peau d'Ane...)

i kind of feel like i've seen it all before :ermm:

looks like a combination of helmut lang/balenciaga/bjork's swan dress as some of you have already mentioned...

i don't feel strongly about it either way though..
don't love it, don't hate it... not sure if i like it... just neutral i guess

seems like a very boring show to watch
not my scene at all

who would wear that actually?
and for the record, in my opinion, if you don't have at least one recognized model...it's not a fashion show

Poor comment, really.

He had to mortgage a lot of his goods (including his house if my memory is right) in order to set up this fashion show

You can guess he was VERY worry concerning the fact Gemma Ward or something is not working for him...

Concerning the show, even if this is really Lang (the pony tails shoes for example) I still love him. This might be his last collection on the runway so...

^I agree...thats the most ludicrous comment ever. I'm sorry but so much emphasis is give over the models on the catwalk - has anyone forgotten that the clothes are supposed to be what we're looking at.

^I can only agree..I thought donkey hats were the highlight of this thread but that comment has totally stole my attention  ..there aren't any recognised models walking for felipe..or junya and rei for that matter.. maybe the concept of fashion is quite depraved these days. :innocent:

anyway, great show..marvelously executed lines, I agree experimenting with volumes is nothing new but like Scott says, he did a great interpretation of the big masters. i think Oliviera only gets better by season and my expectations only grow bigger of course.

I feel the exact same way.

follwing susie here....that comment is completely and utterly the most absurd thing I've heard. one certainly has alot to learn about the fashion world and how difficult it is to even put on show let alone hiring popular models. especially, for somebody who isn't the most famous of designers or financed by a huge company. and it's completely not even the point either. it's completely about the work anyway....models are only there to wear and show the clothes in movement. i agree...too much emphasis put on models.

it looks a bit like student work. that said, it is impressive when a designer throws something out that makes you scratch your head... i wonder what his patterns looked like...maybe circles? i'd like to think so.

ilove this..itlooks already donebeforebutin amuch better wayina nicer way.that swan dress allmost everything i saw but it is geniously improvement ..that is inspirational

Are these donkeys' heads? I find that slightly macabre, since one always hears superstitious tales of the devil taking on a donkey's form...

I like it a lot. There is something almost sloppy about it, but mostly the kind that comes from fitting too many good ideas/intentions into one collection...

I thought the same on both...

completely agree about balenciaga - exactly what i was going to say

I don't like this. I'll give an A for effort, but it feels a bit forced and I think the most interesting pieces have already been done better by others.
