It's a bit of a polarising collection for me, there are some pieces which I absolutely love and others which do nothing at all.

Not keen on those donkey's heads, they're rather creepy and a distraction from the clothes.

Someone should be risky enough to wear these at the next Oscars/ Costume Institute Gala.

I was really looking forward to this collection, but I'm not convinced. I feel that the more I look at it, the less I like it. Too influenced, and too many ideas, possibly great in theory, that didn't work out. I do think some pieces are executed brilliantly, but in parts it reminds me of a student collection.

apparently... this is not haute couture! here i was, fooled all along. it's f/w 07 rtw. he presents off-schedule like anne valerie hash...

Whan I saw him on french TV (where he explained his financial problems), they clearly stated it was Haute Couture (he was presented next to On Aura Tout Vu)...

well, i am pretty sure that those wire dresses etc are made to order, but the rest definitely is rtw (you can even find some of his pieces on yoox...)

i found this snippet of an article from wwd in another thread--

The Other Side of Paris - Anne Valerie Hash, Felipe Oliveira Baptista
This season creates an opportunity for some ready-to-wear designers, whose small shows are sandwiched between the couture presentations.
it goes on from there, but i don't know exactly what it says about felipe yet because i don't have access to wwd.

the lovely kimair located the blurb for me.... ^_^

Horseplay was afoot at Portuguese designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista's fifth ready-to-wear show as the designer blurred the boundaries of art and fashion. Ponyskin dresses sculpted from sponge to echo horses' organic forms and spherical, tent-like dresses formed the main part of the designer's madcap parade. More wardrobe-friendly fare was to be found, however, in the collection's slim-line, riding-inspired looks (decorated with the pattern of a horse's muscles, nonetheless) and elegant silver jacquard tunics.
