Ferragamo Resort 2024 Milan

I wish there was more edge and POW on the feminine silhouettes, the feminine side feels like a botched complement to a tailoring that is well considered and quite right for Ferragamo I have to say I was expecting much worse!

Mens collection
Womens so so but tbh not bad at all

It’s neither bad nor good. Everything he’s offered at best, feels and looks like solid staples of past Greats’ 90s designs— in particular the classic Americans: Donna, Narciso, Calvin, and of course the go-to reference with all these new designers— Helmut. It’s not a bad thing if he continues to improve on fabric/tailoring/cut, especially when brands like Marni/Givenchy/Versace becoming a joke nowadays.

The womenswear and the bags are good, but nothing looks particularly desirable.

honestly: it's not THAT spectacular.

It's easy on the eyes, yes, but... where are the signatures & highlights?

nothing is exciting enough to lure me into a ferragamo store right now.
As seen from the outside the one close by where i work has become a hybrid of wannabe-oldcéline and dusty old money references after the interior revamp. not edgy or chic at all.

i know it needs time and money to do this big change right. but the ferragamo family has plenty of it. And should go full force Maximilian from the start and not this inconsistent middleway.

The menswear is suprisingly beter than the womenswear. It looks sharp and modern here. The womenswear, however, is too "Philo's Céline" to be distinct enough.

They really should have used this collection to further push their Elina sandals and Wanda bags. Those are the items really could give Davis' Ferragamo the commercial signature it needs.

An insipid McQueen by Matthew Williams... the last men's coat is amazing, TBH

Agree 100%. My conclusion was: it's not bad and at the same time just not that great.
Definitely missing a unique perspective and something truly outstanding.

If Phoebe will return in great shape and with interesting propositions later this year, this will look even more middle of the road.

It maybe needs more personality but let’s not act like Ferragamo has ever shifted anything in terms of fashion conversation.

His work will make sense for me once his aesthetic will be settle in the Ferragamo universe, which means, when the overall line-up of products will reflect the new changes.

It’s getting better in terms of accessories and the dresses are great. I’m not convinced by the tailoring tho.
The velvet tracksuit looks so desirable from my screen that I literally want to touch it!

Unfortunately, the clothes are fine, but definitely failed to wow and the accessories continue to disappoint. The belt on look 29?, the color of the drab purple on look 7? or orange bag on look 28? look 16 and 22 too are just simply not desirable.

Whilst I think that Blazy at BV also produce some rather vile designs, like that very expensive leather piece that look like denim on Kate Moss, it still at least create talking points and maybe a certain admiration of the worksmanship. This guy simply failed to deliver any wow factors...

The bar for what is considered top-notch design in 2023 is apparently that low that people are willing to give this designer all this attention and good will, but is it due to his talent or the fact that Marco Gobbetti is the CEO? All I'm seeing is yet another lackluster and literal referencing of 'late 90ies minimalism' by the textbook, devoid of personality and charm.

I would have understood the fuss, had they managed to snatch up an industry veteran like Narciso Rodriguez, Francisco Costa or Clare Waight Keller to be the creative director for Ferragamo but this is underwhelming from every angle and doesn't live up to the high market positioning they are aiming at.

In my opinion, this collection is wonderful for the brand. I don't think Ferragamo has ever been pushing the fashion conversation forward and here we have strong, wearable and luxurious pieces. I hope Davis will manage to turn it into a successful direction, because he's only getting better and better with every collection.

It's a bit... dead, right? Luxurious, wearable, sure, but isn't it a bit bland and devoid of personality?
Yes it is. Those are good clothes but nothing shines or adds a specific Ferragamo edge. This could pass as a capsule from another brand.
Their identity is even more confusing now: are there a competition to Loro Piana or BV or The Row ? Zegna for the menswear ? A higher-end Max Mara ? All at once ?
