PENCIL-THIN CHERYL COLE battles her marriage heartbreak on the other side of the world — as love rat husband ASHLEY shares a training ground laugh with his team-mates yesterday.
While the England defender clowned with Chelsea pals in Surrey, friends of his devastated missus voiced fears that her weight has plunged to a terrifying SIX STONE.
The 24-year-old GIRLS ALOUD pin-up has been refusing to eat and chain-smoking on a Thai island as she fades into a sad shadow of the pop world beauty.
She fled her marital home three weeks ago after The Sun revealed Ashley had cheated on her. And in the first pictures taken since then, her agony was clear to see.
Last night a fellow guest at her resort called The Sun and revealed how she heard the anguished star tell a pal in a phone call: “Don’t treat me like a victim. I’m not a f****** victim, I’m a grown woman.
“People email me, ‘Poor you, poor thing’. F***.
“How can I trust my fella again? He’s damaged goods. I knew something was wrong when I confronted him about some woman and he made up some s***** excuse rather than deny it outright.”
The holidaymaker said: “Cheryl is clearly devastated — she looked stick thin. That bastard Ashley Cole has a lot to answer for.”
Worried bandmates NICOLA ROBERTS and KIMBERLEY WALSH are protecting Cheryl as she decides whether to divorce her man. And they have told pals of their fears over her weight.
The trio have spent a week relaxing in a Ł2,000-a-day villa in the grounds of a luxury resort in Thailand.
Maids and private chefs tend to their requirements — while spa therapists visit to provide daily beauty treatments. The girls’ manager has even paid Ł300 for a Buddhist “spiritual guru” to visit the villa and help Cheryl with her grief.
The holidaymaker revealed that the stars’ only outing has been a daily walk down to the beach jetty — where they sit and wave at the Thai fishermen who sail past.
A close pal of the girls last night said Cheryl had asked Nicola and Kimberley to join her in the tropical paradise — telling them: “Please help me to completely vanish.”
The friend added: “The realisation that Ashley has betrayed her so badly suddenly hit Cheryl hard.
“She told her closest pals that he might as well have ripped her heart out and stamped on it.
“Ashley’s cheating was so painful that, for two weeks, Cheryl practically locked herself in a rented apartment, sobbing herself to sleep.
“She tried to take her mind off things by filming the video for the band’s new song Can’t Speak French — but the effort to be upbeat drained her even more.
“Cheryl couldn’t eat and her weight plummeted so rapidly and significantly that her ribs and hip bones started to jut sharply out. Her cheeks also look sunken.
“So when her family and the girls’ management team suggested a holiday, she jumped at the chance.”

She added: “The girls have had an incredibly low-key holiday as they know Cheryl is mentally exhausted with the breakdown of her marriage. Nicola and Kimberley are trying to encourage her to eat as they believe her weight has plummeted to as little as six stone.
“But she mostly just jumps up from the table after a few mouthfuls and grabs a ***. Because of the stress, Cheryl’s chain-smoking her way through 40 a day.
“The girls have been stirring most days at 10am — when they go and lie by their villa’s pool or have a spa treatment.

A band insider said: “She knows walking out on Ashley will be the making of her. She’ll get a Ł4million divorce payout and can walk tall for standing up to a footballer.
“But she does love him — and you can’t ignore emotions.”
Shocked Cheryl spent the fortnight following our revelations shut off from the world in a rented North London apartment.
