Ford Supermodel of the World 2006

Just saw the runway vid and get Chanel's appeal. The girl walks like a dream. She is no doubt the best runway girl of the bunch.

The girls there are all so gorgeous. How do the judges choose? But the winner reminds me of Kate Bosworth.

Those are from www.fordmodels.com.
She's listed as Katsia D. in the New York department.

^ Quite nice, I almost get a Freja vibe from her. She should do well, Camila Finn did... even though I found and still find her very generic.

her new Ford pics are quite beautiful. Looks like she lost some weight, but why does she have that startled doe look in every pic. How about a smile, or sexy leer or something ethereal to show us some range?

I love Katsia but not Bojana so much. She looks like every other fourteen-year-old Jewish girl from Thornhill (and if you're from Toronto you'll know what I mean). Either way, they're all better than Camilla Finn.

well, chanel has been put forward as one of the top new faces to watch by both the casting director at coacd.com AND style.com

not too shabby...

have any of the other girls (katia, bojana, charo etc.) been out in the S/S 2007 shows? i definitely see what you mean about bojana's look being the same as every other Jewish Torontonian.. pretty, but not exactly unique.

Katsia is front and center on Neiman Marcus' online catalogue. Not exactly befitting a grand prize winner of Ford Models' modelling contest. Chanel, the 5th placer is the one who is rockin' the modelling scene.

What is happening with the Eileen and Katie's crystal ball?

Hindsight is 20/20. Really, how many of us would've said Chanel's career would blow up the way it did two years ago at the contest? It's not surprising that in any given year, one of the girls who didn't win would turn out to have the better career than the winner. There is only one winner, but something like 30-40 other girls. Mathematically, the odds are that one of those 30-40 girls will have the blow-out career rather than the winner.

Adriana Lima, Luciana Curtis, Lilliane F, Elizabeth Davidsdottir all participated in the contest and lost and still had very nice careers better than the winners form the years they were in the contest.

And look at the Elite Look of the Year. Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Stephanie Seymore all lost but each turned out to be supermodels.
Picking the next big girl is not an exact science. It's an educated guess, but you never know which direction one taste maker (Meisel, Wintour, Miuccia) is going to go and which model they're going to push, changing the aesthetic of the entire industry.
