Anneliese Seubert won the competition in 1990 and went on to have moderate success.
Do u know by any chance who was the winner back than in 1997? I am wondering who could beat Adriana...
according to wiki
portuguese model diana pereira
thank u! its funny how many times the winners fame and glory is gone the night of the competition. i believe there were many more success stories behind the girls who came as 1 or 2nd runner ups or eventually didnt even make it to the top 3.
maybe its a bad karma or maybe its just about the fact that girls are sometimes way to young and dont realize that winning the competition is not it.
^^It's just a matter of mathematics. You have only one winner each year, whereas you have multiple runners-up, so you have much better odds that one of the runners-up will develop into a top model. If you look at Elite's contest you will find similarly that there have been many more runners-up than winners who've become big --simple statistical probability at work.
Wasn't it around 1997 or so that Elite CEO Gerald Marie had his infamous chat about what he was going to do with the contestants?
Ford Supermodel of the World Brazil 2008 Runner-Up: Carolina Thaler/Brazil
Ford Supermodel of the World Iceland 2011 Runner-Up: Kolfinna Kristófersdóttir/Iceland
^ Although not represented by Ford , Kolfinna was in the Top 3 of FSMOTW Iceland last year
Does the contest still exist? Wasn't Danica the last winner? Ford used to hold it in January but nothing this year.
