Forever21 Jewelry

Here's my rant to add to the pile ;)

Disposable fashion is not OK!!! :yuk: It is morally irresponsible to buy something that will have to go into our burgeoning landfills after 1-3 wearings. I personally think hard about ever buying from a brand again if a piece I've worn alot is unwearable after its first season. Clothes should last for years, and jewelry should last even longer. Even good costume jewelry really lasts ... I have a Ben Amun necklace (very similar to something Chanel has for fall btw) I bought about 15 years ago that's still perfectly wearable.

It's extremely enlightening to go to a city council meeting where the people who actually live next to the city landfill are testifying about what it's like. Trash is nasty, and we need less, not more.

My thoughts exactly!
It doesn't matter how cheap it is if it falls apart right away, when you throw something in the trash can it doesn't disappear!

I don't like cheap metal jewelry at all. Plastic can be somewhat durable, but cheap metal will lose it's color and probably give you an allergic reaction too. I don't mind cheap jewelry that looks like it can actually last a few seasons (I don't like H&M either, I stay clear of all metal jewelry that isn't silver, gold or platinum) Quality jewelry is worth the price as it'll last forever. I have some gorgeous pieces that used to belong to my great grandmother, that I know I will pass on to someone else when I grow old. I just don't condone the mentality that everything is disposable (if it is, then the entire world will soon be our junkyard)

/end rant :p

I own many things from Forever21 and I still have them year, after year. I just don't wear them everyday ya know?! I mean who does!? It's all about mixing it up, designer wear with lower priced items. To top it off, not all designer labels last very long either.

FYI - Not good for sensitive skin. The few pairs of earrings I've brought always leave my ears agitated...

I don't like the jewelry at all....and those earrings are so heavy that they would probably rip my earlobes

I know, I don't own jewelry by Forever21 but I do love the clothes, regardless.

I don't like the clothes either...when I first walked in there I was like OMG EVERYTHING IS SO CUTE! and I took like a bazillion things to the dressing room but then everything fit really bad or had those hidious puffed millitary-like sleeves :yuk:

& plus a lot of the clothes just SCREAM Forever 21 ...the style of it. Like the thermals and printed scoop neck shirts.

I never liked there clothes until recently, I brought a shirtdress and I'm in love with it and how fits. The key is to shop around and don't over wear.

I don't get all this ranting about their jewelry. I've bought a lot of accessories there and they last because I take good care of them and I don't toss them around. You just have to be sensible about how you store it. You can't expect a cheap piece of jewelry to hold up if you toss it around a lot and drop it on the floor. You wouldn't do that with something you paid $500 for. If you don't want your cheap jewelry to break, don't take care of it as if it was disposable.

I have very very sensitive ears, too. Instead of replacing the hooks, you can paint over it in clear nail polish. It prevents the metal from touching your skin and making you irritated. ;) You can do the same thing to the inside of a ring that turns your fingers green. ^_^

^That piece is sensational - I must see if my local store has them

A play on the Dior strawberry necklace, perhaps?

some of the newer pieces are actually pretty cute, but you have to remember the metal tarnishes sooo easily. but it's fun for $3-7!

Actually, I have a cross from F21 I've worn a ton of times and I love it. It's still in perfect condition too, so I havne't had so much a problem with their jewlery falling apart.
I really like F21 stuff because some of it's quirky and suits my tastes in ways classic jewley doesn't always (like gothic-y crosses etc) or else I'm not willing to pay ridiculous sums for because they're so trendy.

On the other hand, I don't own too much of their clothing because meanwhile cute, there's so much that there's nothing that particularly stands out as LOVE And I tend to be more selective about clothing I love at places with so much stuf that's cute.

a lot of their stuff is really cute and fun for costume jewelry. But everything and i mean everything that I have gotten from there has broken within a few wears. I guess it's what to be expected when it's that cheap.
