French President Sarkozy dating supermodel Carla Bruni *Update* They're Married

How do people in France feel about him and this relationship? In America it was really hurt a presidents approval rating to have a new president acting more like a playboy than a leader of a country.

He should know that it's the same type of behaviour that caused a revolution in the 18th century. But I don't know if it'll go that far this time.

Now I really appreciate Angela Merkel's husband as Germany's First Lady:blink: (Oh my, what a bright statement)

"If it's the case, they are doing the right thing by getting married as soon as possible and I am sure the French people will support them in this."
We don't give a s*** !!!!!

French people are tired of seing their president on the cover of gossip magazines because of his private life.He invited a libyan dictator a while ago, what about that ??

Anyway,I can't believe she's pregnant (I really hope it's not true) .... Jesus Christ.Wtf is wrong with Sarkozy. He better go do some serious work instead of making his girlfriend of two month pregnant.

I can't wait to be in 2012 so we can get rid of him

I'm sick of people saying it's "the right thing" to do to marry the woman you have maybe accidentally knocked up after only a short time of dating and in the midst, maybe, of your divorce. "Make her an honest women", "make it legit", these things really bug me:huh: Maybe there are people who fall in love and decide to have children that quick (or who welcome it) and get married, that's fine, but "the right thing to do"?? It's not like an unmarried, single mother needs to get stoned otherwise.

He got a divorce while in office, correct?...
I would think that alone wouldn't go over well in the US....
Let alone this.

I don't agree with attention it's getting ( which she seems to love, IMO)
but I do think he is entitled to divorce, sleep with, marry who he pleases.
As long as he is doing his job as well.

I've heard from several sources that the two got married on Thursday. I guess this will be revealed in the media next week.

I'm seriously fed up of hearing from Sarkozy's every ridiculous move. This guy makes me want to puke.

Absolutely. But he should try to be a little more subtle. :ninja: It just gets hard to take him seriously when he private life is so, ermm, not private... he's become like a tabloid figure, a star rather than a president. By the way I'm not disagreeing with you, just making a broader point. :)

And ^agreed. :ermm::innocent:

that's [arguably] the thing... :unsure::innocent::ninja:

I'm all for political figures trying to break out the mold and being less hypocrite on lifestyles and talking.. I hate it when presidents get tremendous critique for not embodying the perfect life and its proper etiquette or vocabulary.. like that's what we vote, care and pay them for. but seriously, when your accomplishments are all related to tabloid scandals and you have nothing else to speak for in your version of state of the union.. I guess that's when the balance comes into the picture and the weight of your lifestyle and the amount of time you dedicate to it versus the promises you've made to an entire country and the extraordinary compromise you signed up for is put into question. sarkozy's case unfortunately.

i was told it was Cecilia who severed their marriage not Sarkozy himself. She was having an affair with some PR guy (?) and is living with him?

Exactly my thoughts :flower:

so, is Carla really pregnant or what? what's the talk in France these days?

^i already said there was no talk at all about the pregnancy...
and already said it was fake....

about their marriage, yes i heard it today.....
but there's no confirmation at all, yet....
M. Sarkozy is in the Middle-East at the moment...

I totaly agree with you Mullet....
but that is very important for the Foreign-Politics....
for instance when Nicolas and Carla went somewhere in the Middle-East... they slept in the same room.... and in those country it's not really appreciated when you're not married.... I mean for this example, when you are a President and go in another country you must respect the rules..... not saying you must wear the burkha but try a little bit to respect.....

but i said Amen to your post....

today i've heard a Pro-UMP (Sarkozy's party) on the radio and he told that he was really disappointed by this behaviour.....
even his people are not happy with him....
i let you imagine the others, like me..........

He invited a libyan dictator a while ago, what about that ??
Have you ever heard about his son???
it was a real mess when he used to live in Paris.... a rel disaster......

no no it's both.....
Sarkozy was not an angel in their private life...........

I never thought about it that way :o Does he have advisors? I guess he must want his own way...

I knew about Sarkozy/French politics for a long time before he was President - seems like he wanted this job a LOT, and now he seems such a joke. I do think we need politicians who are human, we can't expect them to be perfect. In England we are so afraid of a Prime Minister who has any misdemeanour in his past, but then we complain that they are all boring  Yes, he has a private life but it's more and more like a soap opera - I never thought I would see French President on the same blog as Paris and Lindsay
