French Style!

Laurette
Getting a new bag for summer is easy, white is classic. In fact, white goes with everything, not black. So that might be a good place to start, a classic shape in leather.

It sounds like you have a very good wardrobe of basics, so I think what you're looking for is some items to liven it up, and keep it youthful. All the things you have are great, so mix up some plainer pieces with a subtle patterned items. You'll keep the overall simple, French look, but adding in bits of your personality too. To me, that's the key to the French look - keep it simple, but personalise it in some way.

In terms of what colour you should focus on, I think you need to look at your own colouring. A lot of black can be very chic, but can also be harsh on someone who's very pale. Navy blue sits very well with brighter colours, as does grey. Brown can be very chic and warm too. Think first of your skin tone and hair colour before you think about how it fits into your wardrobe.

Hope this helps :flower:

I also think white is good for summer bags, and white really does go with everything- I agree with you on that-much more so than black, which just plain....doesn't!
A lot of people seem to say in general no to any white bags and shoes, but I don't think they're always a bad thing!

Keeping them clean is more difficult, but if you're careful and use protective products, you should have no problems. I really think white just brightens up a summer outfit, I need to find my one for this summer :shifty:

I finally found a beige trench that suits me, I'm going to get it in 2hrs and 30 minutes :woot:
sorry for the unnecessary information, i've been looking for one for more than 8 months :flower:

Congrats! I invested in a trench about 2 years ago and have since gotten much use out of it. They are definitely a must-have in my book! :D

I don't...I think it's chic! Just so long as you mix it up, and it suits you well.
Congratulations on the trench laurette! I love mine, I want more
Post pics when you can!

beige and white can be boring, or they can be chic, just like any other neutral- I'm sure you them well

I could've shopped myself to death today, so many eggshell-coloured stuff, my new favorite
Here's a pic, it's very blurry (my cam's broken) and my posing looks like I have a hunchback but anyways, as long as I know how it looks like in real life ;) (btw, my room is not always as messy as in the pic)

I wonder if this catalogue embodies the French look as influenced by current shapes and styles? Its from an Australian shop, but I think it is beautifully styled, and the clothes are very nice quality and not toooo expensive for those of us who don't have the budget for Chanel jackets etc! http://www.countryroad.com.au/sysfiles/downloads/Country_Road_Autumn_Winter_Catalogue.pdf

Sylphide, I didnt go through all of it -but from what I saw, I certainly think so! The colors are subdued and yet the outfits look edgy. It definitely reminded me of French style as I picture it.

ahh good I'm thinking along the same lines then! I am in love with this catalogue. Country Road stuff is beatiful, though sometimes a little bland. But I think the stying in this catalgue is amazing. And how sharp are the guys?!? I just bought a lovely woven grey, cream and black plaid wool shawl/scarf in there the other day. I had this thread in mind when purchasing!

thanks for the nice comments
^Sylphide, some of these clothes look great. Is CR only available in Australia?

Umm I think so. It might also be in New Zealand? They might ship overseas however? The great thing with CR is the quality, as well as the fact that they interpret trends in a very sophisticated subtle way. They do nice fabrics that hang well. Even the little plain t shirts are well cut (not too tight) and last for ages, the cotton is so thick. I have them in white and black and they have been going strong for well over a year and a half and worn pretty heavily too I might add!

Has anyone found an inspiring stylediary, a blog etc.?
I've been browsing through mystylediary.net but haven't found anything yet.
