Frye Boots

Does anyone know how the finish is on the Frye Dorados? I'm hoping they are not super shiny but I can't tell from my monitor. Thx!

they do look shiny in that pic, and I've never seen them in real life, but my guess is that the shine is just heightened by the flash. It would be hard to keep boots that shiny without constantly oiling them. My guess is they are more matte than they appear.

Shopbop finally has the black engineer's in my size in....not sure whether I should order them or not....I do love them and they are a great price compared to the cost of other boots, but just not sure I should be putting my cash there at the moment....

Got them today, absolutely gorgeous and worth every last penny:) I am wearing them right now..why oh why can't it be fall!!

I have these too in black! They may be my favorite boots ever.

I have already worn these boots at least four times this fall and want to wear them all day, every day. I live in Los Angeles and it has not gone below 70 during the day.

I had a chance to study the women's boots available from the Frye website ( http://www.thefryecompany.com/Women-Boots.aspx ). For the most part, these are more like outdoor, cowgirl-type boots. Few high-heel boots I've seen. A pair I liked from the women's collection were the Victoria boots. The Victoria boots come in either an ankle boot or a mid-calf boot. Its platform design and high heel make them pretty fun to wear with a good pair of jeans or maybe a semi-formal pair of pants. I usually think of either denim blue jeans or maybe some beige or khaki pants to go with these brown boots.

They also seem to be big on the riding boot. Don't go to Frye if you want chic and stylish boots. The riding boots are pretty nice from them. I guess the O-Ring on some boots are something I'm starting to like. I don't really like the Frye boots I've seen from their website.

um what? You describe a pair you like and then say you don't like any of them?

Either way, I complete disagree. I think Frye are v. chic and one of the few brands that is able to be carried in both "lower" level retailers as well as high end, and sell equally well at both. Likewise their brand image isn't "tarnished" by being carried outside of the high income stores. Compared to a lot of other brands, and for the quality, their pricing is pretty good.

I think I'm finally getting my beloved 8R engineer's for Christmas. My mum is at her home in the states now and seeing if she can find any in store. If not, she'll just buy online and ship to me! I can't wait! Shopbop always seems to sell out of my size asap so I really cannot wait!

Meg, what city are you in? I think I remember you saying you're in Canada.
There's a store here in Montreal called Little Burgundy (don't know if they're national) that has the short Engineers. I saw them on display in the last week.

I'm dying for a pair of harness boots... They're so classic and amazing! I'm also surprised that a company who puts out such hardcore, roughing-it style boots has such ADORABLE feminine heels!

Really funny how "boots" are defined nowadays in fashion... those shoes in Post #207 look beautiful. What color/fabric is that? Look like a stylish dark denim blue color. The brown mixed with that denim blue come together in a classic shoe. Lovely shoes. Even more so since that mary jane style is prevalent.

i'm a fan. i don't own any but every time i see them in the store i want them. and i mean most styles. they just keep getting them right. old with new, the right leather, i like the hardware choices. i want some!!!

I just bought my 1st pair this weekend...the black harness boot....and I LOVE them. they're so stylish and comfortable, i've been wearing them with everything, and refuse to take them off...lol

do you have the short or tall ones? ive been thinking about getting the short ones and cant decide if ill find other short shaft black boots that ill like more. and i cant seem to find a pair of them being modeled, would anyone know where i could see them on someone?

thanks for the tip ladystardust! My mum is in the states now and the RRP is cheaper there....however, with the Canadian dollar backsliding into oblivion they might actually be cheaper here. I also know that a store in Calgary carries them and Holts as well. Am nervous about the prospect of calling a store in Montreal though and not speaking French. They might yell at me

I have been wearing my Paige cuffs nonstop since the weather has changed, they are absolutely the best money I have EVER spent. So comfy and look great with pretty much everything. i always feel so well dressed and cool when I wear them:)

I have the harness boots but havent worn them yet. Any ideas on what to wear them with?

^
um, everything? Seriously though. They'll look great with tights and dresses, or skinny jeans jammed into them. The only thing they probably wouldn't look good with are wide legged trousers or jeans.

I agree with Meg and Chaneladdict.
I have a pair of veronica slouch and find that I wear them all the time. I too felt unsure about how best to wear them at first but once you get started you will find all the clothing possibilities for your boots. I wear mine with everything.

WOO! :woot: I finally found the Engineers in my size/color/height! As well documented, I wanted the 8R Engineer in black and everywhere always sold out of my size (7) first. Well finally I discovered Urban Outfitters carried them online! Anyway, I googled and found that UO online a 25% off coupon code that basically got them for $160 including their (overpriced!) shipping and taxes which is a great deal. Esp. considering we're paying in CDN dollars. Can't wait!

Congrats! I have the 12R version and wore them like crazy last winter. I just started wearing them again since it's getting chillier.
