Okay, so last December I bought the Frye Belted Harness Boots in Chestnut. I normally wear a size 10, but for some reason these boots run huge, so i wound up exchanging them 3 times and finally settling on an 8.5. I know the fit, its just that they are a little narrow in the toes, and they hurt. Any suggestions? Do I just need to keep wearing them til they "break in"? How long will it take? I know I need to wear them often, but after one day in them, they wind up back in my closet til i get brave enough to wear them again.

Any help would be appreciated!!

I'm not sure how flexible the leather is, but you could take them to a cobbler and have them stretched... Sorry they hurt!

i know they run big and i had to exchange mine a couple of times before getting the right size as well..

but honestly...
it sounds like you went too small...
and those buggers will not stretch in the toe...
i don't think there is anything you can do...
sorry:(...

maybe you can sell them on ebay and order a 1/2 size up?...

**i always suggest buying boots a 1/2 size bigger than a pump anyway...
much more comfortable and then you can wear a sock in the winter as well...

Yeah, come to think of it, I think I needed a 9, but Fields didnt have one, so I just went with the 8.5. Im gonna try getting them stretched in the toe area by a cobbler. Cross your fingers. I cant believe they run so big, its ridiculous.

if you like to take the risk, back in the soviet union when it was a miracle to find shoes in the right size women used to stretch leather by making it moist with alcohol and then stretching(wearing them), or at least thats what my mother tells

I've done that successfully, once. Get the part that needs stretching wet, put it on, and don't take it off until it is fully dry (half an hour or more). If you just stretch it without getting it completely wet, or take it off before it dries, it will simply spring back later. Polish it later, to get some oils back into the leather.
