Game of Thrones

I was like: Sam, you just killed a white walker and you run away leaving the blade behind??!! Who does that?! LOL

Another great episode! I'm really NOT looking forward to the finale, I want this to go on forever.

I kinda wished that captain with the scar was Daario, not the younger guy. I mean he's cute too, but that captain was HOT!! Too bad that's the last we'll see of him.

SAM! You left the obsidian blade behind!

Agreed! Mero , I think his name was. They both are great but I do wish we would see more of the captain. too bad.

I'm happy that we got to see Sansa & Tyrion's wedding. That threat from Joffery was scary!

It was a passable episode. But oh yeah-- too bad Mero wasn't around much  (And on another purely shallow note; as the only gay man left as part of the story, couldn't a really hot guy be cast as Loras? This one is very dopey and homely-looking for my taste.)

So far, season 3 is the weakest link. It's clearly missing the intensity and urgency of season 1, even season 2. These weddings, and domestic relationship stories between Tyrion and Sansa and slavegirl, Jon and Ygritte, Jaime and Brienne... although sometimes interesting, just drag on and on to the point of stalling and dominate the storyline too much at the expense of the epic. For me, anyway. Winter appears to be coming, but it's sort of a soap-opera vibe here they never go anywhere, non-event, so far. Some action, some battles, even a minor skirmish would be nice.

Sam is so adorable-- with his optimism and posh accent and manners. Gilly(?) reminds me of Lilly McMenamy-- chinless overbite and all, but actually prettier. Loved the last scene, very cinematic "Hansel and Gretel" with the ravens pursuing them. Hopefully, Sam's discovery of the Walker's vulnerability will mean he'll be given a more prominent part in the overall story. I hope he's got more of those Dragonstone blades... I'm looking forward to his story more than Jon's-- unless something actually starts to happen there... getting rid of that awful Ygritte would be a good start. Thanks heelscatchfire for hinting at Sam's coming into his own and I hope they keep his momentum going instead of fizzing out.

Besides my new interest in Sam's story, and of course, Dany's, the others are rather forgettable to me. Although, I loved loved loved Cersei shoving off Marg with "Call me your sister again, and I'll have you strangled in your sleep". I love that gentlewoman: She won't win this Game of Thrones with such bluntness, but she is such an entertaining Mean Girl. Sansa's story is a complete bore to me. I don't care what happens to her; despite everything she's been through. When she referred to Tyrion as "I have to marry THAT?"-- yes, Sansa, you must marry that horrible-looking imp who's been the only one that's ever been kind, protective and respectful to you without wanting anything in return. Jeez. King's Landing is so boring with all the soap opera meddling and terrible made-for-TV costumes.

Oh, just you wait for the next episode. If you thought Season 1 had the "shock" moment, Season 3 will eclipse it.

Sam & Gilly are great, I do hope he uses his knowledge of the white walkers weakness. But it sucks he left the obsidian knife behind!

I hate how Sansa was so mean to Tyrion. He is the best to have next to you. No harm will ever come to her but of course she only looks at his flaws.

Go Cersei! Her remark to Margery was priceless.

I'm glad someone else dislikes Ygritte. She doesn't add anything to the story. But if it goes by the book, she shouldn't be a problem much.

Wtf was that scene with Melisandre and Gendry!

The castin for Loras has always disappointed me

^^^ So the TV-version really deviates from the books that you don't know what'll happen to Sam...?

Ygritte just grates because she reminds me of the type of women that so many of my very handsome straight guy friends go out with: It's not her dominating personality-- it's her constant belittling of Jon, even if it's only in jest at times, when she herself is such a hick. Jon and Tormund would be awesome together!

Gendry would have made a great Loras... Definitely would have looked good with Renley! That scene with Gendry bound as a naked Melisandre casually place leeches on him was kind of unintentionally funny-- especially that she had to place one in his junk..

Love Missandei as well-- so beautiful and devoted. It's always a pleasure to see just her with Dany, besides their combined beauty, the bond between these two is great.

Oh, just you wait for the next episode. If you thought Season 1 had the "shock" moment, Season 3 will eclipse it.

Finally...? And after 8 episodes...

Indeed he was, I wished he would have gone on but I don't mind the other one, Dany always gets the hunkiest partners, though nothing will top Drogo.

Cersei gathering Margery with a sentence and ignoring Loras in a second was hilarious.

Poor Sansa, she got her dream to walk down the isle with Joffrey but at least she didn't marry him, I look forward to Tyrion's and Sansa's awkward moments.

Sam! You dummy!

Oh yea I don't deny the leech scene was funny. (I also have a soft spot for Joe Dempsie, who plays Gendry, because he was in Skins) I just wasn't expecting it to be played out like that. Of course the outcome of the magical leeches is unfortunate. I do love Melisandre.

Tormund is awesome!

Phuel, I have only read the to book 3 which is the book this season is mostly based off. So I do know a little more about Sam but not a lot.

^ I like the magic she brings to the show, keeps things interesting.
I do have a history of liking the most distastful characters..

Also this wasn't in the show, it was in the book, its what I thought was an important scene between Sam & Mormont. As Mormont was dying in Craster's Keep, he told Sam to forgive Jorah for him and ask him to join the black brothers. I hate that they took that out.

Its not really Robb Stark's storyline, its actually Catelyn Stark's (they show a lot of him since she is there) so soon, probably by the end of this season, they will move away from just focusing on Robb.

Good to know, thank you!

Melisandre is far more interesting in the book than they make her out to be on the show. Same goes for plenty of other people.
I feel like they don't do the characters full justice on the show, but in fact they reinforce certain stereotypes about them, which is quite annoying.
Afraid of the next episode, please don't mess it up.

This season is very imbalanced but I just cannot wait for the finale
if it is what I think it is, I hope they make it as faithful as possible to the book
My body is ready

Actually I think Sansa was nice to Tyrion, the show never showed how she really hates the Lannisters, Tyrion might be the nicest but he's still one of them, she has been used and I guess she has the right to not like that.
Besides I think you are overestimating the power that Tyrion has,if you read the books you will know that he can't really protect her even if he thinks he can.

Thanks for that bit of insight about Sam and Mormont heels! So book 3 will be completely finished in Season 3? I had read somewhere that book 3 will continue into Season 4. I suppose not.

The casting is really strong overall. I'm only familiar with Sean Bean because he was Boromir and Lena because she was the Queen in 300  And Charles Dance from Alien 3. The rest of the cast are all new to me since I don't watch much televsion. But they're all really good... except for the actress portraying Melisandre. She's missing that deadliness mixed with dark beauty. I'm not convinced she's that lethal, dangerous and irresistible to men. Unlike Dany-- who's beauty and confidence I believe can charm Daerio and inspire a legion of deadly soldiers. Now whether Daerio was really charmed by her is another matter-- but Dany has that capable, ethereal beauty... Perhaps Daerio was just smart enough to realize that his 2,000 men wouldn't stand a chance against her unbroken 8,000 devotees, and 3 dragons.

It's really hard to believe Mel has that power, and over powerful men nonetheless-- I just don't buy it. She's too... ordinary-- like the slightly creepy substitute teacher void of any humor I had in junior high. I find her terribly miscast.

I hope Sam and Jon's buddy-- the one built like a rugby player with a blond beard, that was part of the mutiny back at Craster's Keep is still alive. He was hot...:innocent:

No problem! As far as I know, I think it's still being split up and continue to season 4. There is a lot left in that book that cannot be covered in 2 episodes.

^^^ That's good to know! I'd hate to see the battles take up only the last 2 episodes of this season... The battles better last more than just 2 episodes-- having to endure all these weddings better be worth it. I want bloodshed!

Waaaaahhhhh-- no episodes this week!

ugh dear god. even for a book reader this episode was just damn too much to handle. i could just barely concentrate on the other scenes, and then THAT freaking scene had to commence in all its horrific grief. jeeeeeeeeesus :( there are simply no words.
