I saw the movie Gia the other day on FX+, it was really moving and I think Angelina did an amazing job of being Gia.

How many fashion shows has Gia actually done? I only saw her in a documentary in just one show. In those days they also photographed the shows, I know she was more a print girl but she must have done at least 10 fashion shows and those pictures and maybe even videos must have been stored!!!!! Lets find Gia in fashion shows!!!

Just been checking back on some old pics of Gia and her beauty is amazingly timelessB) She could fit in right now and I doubt anyone would blink an eye.
Even in the late 70's and early 80's she was way before her time IMO. Easily one of the coolest models ever. Also her body....WOW!!!!!!!!

Well, it has a perfectly fictitious character - Linda - Gia doesn't seem to have had a gf like that. At all. And then, Angelina is so different from Gia that it's ridiculous...but she's her own and it works that way, because Angelina is fantastic in her own right, though it's difficult to see her as Gia.

Overall it's good, though.

She only did a Halston show because she was the face of the house for that season...so basically it was crucial. She was not a runway girl at all, she was far too short and her manly walk didn't help. If your interested in her you can read the book written about her. A really good piece of literature for a fashion lover like myself I still have it and reffer to it once in a while!

yes the book on her is great! Just a question about the character 'Linda' in the Gia movie: wasnt she supposed to be based on Sandy Linter?

Yeah that character was based on Sandy and personally I think the TV movie with Angelina is a not bad interpretation of the events portrayed in the book.
Obviously Angelina is nothing like Gia but she has that feral, carefree quality that Gia has been described as having.
IMO the book would be a better choice than the movie.

Hmmm, well, Angelina doesn't seem carefree to me, other than when she was ahh... medicated.

Linda was probably Sandy, but anyone who's seen Sandy knows she doesn't have much in common with the kindly, motherly and subservient little Linda.
