Why are they trying to make her happen?
She's a terrible model. I'm sorry, just my Honest Opinion.
As a celebrity spawn at least Kendall Jenner fits the bill. And I'm not a fan of either models!

Sorry, I rather not say anything negative of models, but it just had to be said. Sorry.

I personally like her. She has far more outstanding appearance than some of the current "super" models, like, for instance, Miranda Kerr (which I find totally plain and which after all these years of modelling is still looking boring and has the same face expression in all photoshoots). And posing is something that can be learnt and comes with experience.
And as for her being daughter of a rich family - well, fashion world accepted Kara (and now only lazy doesn't pray at her), fashion world will accept Gigi as well...

She owes no small amount of her current success to IMG. This is the same agency who got Charlotte Free a contract with Maybelline. It's what a great agency with pull can do for a girl with marginal potential. I don't have anything especially against Gigi. I do think she has a place in modeling but strictly as a commercial girl, not a high fashion model, and not especially at this early stage of her career. it's not like with Adriana Lima or Candace Swanepoel, or however you spell her name. They at least put in their time, achieved some commercial success before transitioning to high fashion.

She will be in the 2015 Pirelli Calender that will debut in November and be photographed by Steven Meisel.
The shoot brought together industry veterans and rookies alike, like Hadid, the 19-year-old fresh-faced “It” girl who has since become Roitfeld’s newest muse.
“When I heard I was being a part of this, I thought they were kidding,” she said. The Los Angeles-based model — who is in her second year at NYU — was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans with her golden locks in a tight Heidi braid.

“I was like, ‘They want me in it?’ I guess there has to be that next generation. Carine Roitfeld has been so supportive with my career. She really pushed for me. I’m so grateful to have her in my life.”

In the shoot, Hadid is photographed playing volleyball, a sport she played in high school, which contrasts heavily with another more sexy shoot involving latex.

“I’m wearing all latex in one shot, which is very cool,” she said. “I’ve never worn latex before but everyone’s, like, telling me that it would suck because you get all sweaty and you can’t breathe. But I really like it and now I want latex leggings.”

I personally like Gigi a lot, I think she is beautiful and a great model. I think she is working very hard she is not riding as hard on her last name as Kendall (who IMO is pretty average looking at best and plain as a sheet as a model)and I'm very glad to see Gigi doing so well.

I love the Tom Ford campaign and getting in the Pirelli Calendar for next year has to be a big deal for her.

Nice to see an Arab model hitting the big leagues. They are very beautiful yet very little represented

^ Yeah, girls from different ethnic groups are way easier to cast when they have pretty Caucasian features. -_- Not that she isn't Palestinian or anything, but her looks don't exactly scream diversity, you know?

true.

I had never pay attention of her, but last days it's full around of Gigi, model confessions and etc. At first time I thought she is just average plus size model, because if you see just upper half of her body she seems more like Kate Upton type... But then I checked this thread and I see they really mean to make this girl into high fashion? No way. I mean she is pretty, definitely sexy for some people, but how come she get that much attention? She looks very tacky to me, not "expensive" as I expect from models. I just dont get it, sorry..

Her look lacks polish and sophistication... she's so commercial/catalog... and after listening to her speak I'm even less keen on her...
