actually maybe the original one might be too biker-ish for me though. My version is very pretty and feminine looking, it's kind of growing on me now, I'm liking more the more I check it out. I heard the original has a shoulder pad too, which I'm not too keen on. I'll post pics as soon as I can snag a digital as mine's broken of course! I should probably just be glad to have one period! I DO love the drape of the bag when it's full, it's adorable.

Pixie--- I have actually grown to really prefer the new one to the original. The textured/slouchy leather suits the shape of the bag better, and makes it easier to wear. Congrats!

i'm trying to track down a original gunmetal nightingale and i wanted to know what type of leather is it?? does it scratch easily?? i find the miu miu coffer or the chanel lambskin hard to take care cause it shows scratches...

i had an origanal 'gale with black calf. it is pretty smooth leather. i now have an origianl 'gale with distressed black patent leather. fabulous!!! the new 'gales have better calf leather now, more like thomas wylde distressed leather, but the new bag does not have the same drama as orginal.B)

I think Nicole's Nightingale is the medium size (same as Reese's) 12" x 12" x 6". Please correct me if I'm wrong

the medium is 19 x 12 x 6"

maxi is 23 x 16 x 8"

Oh I didn't realize the leather was different on the older one. I was so bummed but maybe it's fate I received the new one!

Remember the measurements are without the drape. The top of my medium looks HUGE when it's expanded, but when I handhold it or wear it on my shoulder, the ends collapse and pull down - so the dimension is really 12 inches across the top vs. 17 inches if that makes sense? I'm only five feet tall and find this is the perfect size for me

I have to agree now - get the balenciaga. I returned the nightingale as when I wore it on my shoulder, the bag looked funny. It stuck out when zippered up and the handheld handles stuck out too. It drove me nuts. Looks fab when hand carried but not when on the shoulder - JMO though!!! NO offense to anyone who has one and loves it

know what you mean about the handles. i have the lizard handle one pictured below (pic from bagsnob.com)...i find it slightly uncomfortable wearing on my shoulder, esp because of the wide shoulder strap and my small shoulders...slips off.

also think the lizard handle is stiffer than leather handles so that it sticks out even more when carried on the shoulder.

btw anyone else have a lizard handle? i have only seen all-leather versions here. i've had it for several weeks but still unsure if i made the right handle choice...i liked the "sparkle" of this handle but it seems less soft. also the leather of the whole bag is stiffer than the current season's all leather version.

what do y'all think?

big miu, I think you made the right choice with the lizard. The bag is a little too plain with the regular handle.
