I prefer the plain leather handles - plus the newer leather is really distressed, smooshy. It's at least worth checking out if you don't totally *love* the version you have.

smooshy is a term of art that was started to describe a particular good year of bal bags. it has extended to other types of brands now. i agree , the new givenchy leather is more smooshy than last year. it is more distressed, more wrinkled naturally , before the bag is even broken in. this type of leather gets better and better with use and does not show scratches easily. the original 'gale leather was smooth and stiff, not smooshy. i sold mine and know have a distressed washed patent original 'gale which i think it the best! the new givenchy leather is very much like the first year of thomas wylde jackets and bags, distressed, wrinked, like you washed it a couple ot times. hope this helps.B)

^ and the new vers. also has a black interior, which makes it even more dramatic than the original which had calico lining. i'm reeally wanting to get one (after seeing it on nicole, i'm not even gonna front)...but in chocolate not black. the deep brown looks a lot richer to me than just flat black.

I understand. I've had my nightingale for a long time now and always thought it looked weird worn on the shoulder. I've never even considered using it that way. But now, after all these candids of it worn like that, I think it looks great .

Right, it has a beautiful black interior. I decided to keep mine vs. returning it. I let it sit for a while, tried it again and now it works for me I've actually been using it on my shoulder and it's fine, but it looks beautiful hand carried. The black seems quite rich to me, w/the distressing and all. Smooshy LOL The way the leather drapes is just amazing when its hand carried, I never owned a bag that did that. I hope you decide to get one Alejandro!

I so wanted to get the older one but when I finally decided to splurge, there was ONE left, I felt so lucky. I made sure the SA knew which one I wanted, asked 10,000 times if the one I'd be receiving had tarnished hardware and the thicker shoulder strap w/zipper - she said "yes, yes, yes". Well she sent me the new one w/the gold anyway! When I called and mentioned the error, she found one purse left, the one that was meant for ME when I called, but two people were waitlisted for it I guess it wasn't meant to be. You are so lucky to have one!

Pixie - i may reconsider still...because i'm a definite sucker for "smooshy" leather haha and also given Alejandro's comment that the interior is black on the new. i have a habit of NEVER zipping up my handbags so the light colour peeps out and throws off the look of the bag when i wear it

You will love it I'm sure of it! It looks cool unzippered just for that reason. Plus it's easy in/out either handheld or carried on shoulder. Keep us updated! And yes, the leather is scrumptiously smooshy
