I just sent back the distressed/ostrich one to barney's, and I'm a bal girl, so I can weigh in on weight. It's definitely a heavier bag than a bal weekender (even one with giant hardware), but still lighter than most brands, especially for that size bag. (And btw, it was only the price that made me send it back... just couldn't justify it right now, but I LOVED the bag.)

Chauss, can you explain what you don't like about the newer patent? It seems odd to compare it to bad balenciaga leather (which I'm familiar with), because the b-leather wasn't patent. Is it that it's more wrinkled that you don't like? I'm just curious, because I love the green one!

wrinkes are fine. dont like plastically, crispy feel, not smooshy at all... same problem as bal 06 leather, but worse....B)

OMG, heavier than Bal GH WE!? Wow, that's really heavy, isn't it? (I'm a Bal girl as well, and I've become pretty sensitive to weight...)

I wonder if I should just hold out for an original patent instead...

chausss, is your patent really shiny? I mean, I'm not a huge fan of patent leather to begin with, but I do like the wrinkly, washed effect of it....I'm just wondering if I'd get sick of the shine after a while?

neither of my mai 'gales are heavier than a bal WE with GH. lighter, IMO. heavier than bal WE RH, yes, but anything is...

my bag is not too shiny, it is great. i think it has lost some of its initial luster, ... i still get lots of compliments. i think it may even look better now than when it was brand spanking new.... second or third season giv. patent leather wears very well.B)

I didn't know they made patent in AW07 as well?? Do they have the gold HW or the gunmetal HW?? I guess ebay is my only bet, if I wanted one, yes?
So your patent is more special than the ostrich handled one???

I just bought the distressed black Maxi 'gale with ostrich handles!!!!! YAY!

I thought it was lost forever, but fortunately Barneys replenished their stock again, so I HAD TO snag it

Oh, I can't wait to get it...now I'll have both medium and maxi 'gale....B)

How many colors of hardware and inside lining does the nightingale come in? I'm a bit confused. I heard there are gold hardware with black lining. Gunmental hardware with beige lining. and more? Which is the most visually pleasing combination?

help! For the last week, I was watching this ebay item ( http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...m=320242084787&ssPageName=STRK:MEDW:IT&ih=011 ) and from the photos, I assumed that the bag was entirely authentic. I was outbid, obvs, but this morning I woke up to a second chance offer for my highest bid of $450 USD. It strikes me as peculiar to recieve a second chance offer so close to the end of the auction ( my email has it timestamped only 23 minutes after I lost the auction ) and I only just noticed that the seller has, in pink text, something about not accepting any form of online credit payment. Do any of you think it's a fake?

I can't tell if it's real or not but you should definitely see an actual photograph before purchasing an expensive bag online. It almost looks like they photo shopped the real bag onto a white background but who knows, maybe what they really have is a knockoff. I am not sure though! But if I were you, I'd ask to see real photographs and then try to evaluate those.

I think it's real. I've seen it before at barney (it has wrinkly leather) and I have exactly the same one except the handles of mine are snake skin, and the leather of mine isn't wrinkly.
