Sad news ... My Nightingale (post #808) suffered serious damage this past weekend. I was walking by a construction site and they were sawing metal so sparks were flying. One of those sparks landed on the pony hair and burned off a section. Now my bag has a bald spot! I'm SO heartbroken ... thought I'd share my pain with you guys since you'll certainly be more understanding than my husband!

Does Barney's ship the nightingale in a box? Because I just checked tracking and it says the shipment weighs 5 lbs!!!!!! Most bags I carry happily seem to ship around 2-3 pounds at most, sans box. Five is very heavy for this girl. I hope a box is involved!!!

yeah i agree with you on the baby 'gale, guys

i've seen it in person, and it's so freaky. the handle is insanely tiny, you can't even fit your hand thru the opening. the s/s 07 one i saw had a longish chain instead of the mini version of the zipper shoulder strap that the newer one has. it's so pointless

got my nightingale today from barney's, the ostrich/wrinkled one in maxi... the barney's pic is just a few posts up. It's gorgeous. A lot of money, but gorgeous. I wish the handles were a tad longer and that it weighed it nothing (not possible, I know), but it's so beautiful!

I hate to say this... I have to return it. We have unexpected expenses suddenly, and I'm just feeling way too guilty about buying a 2k bag. Even though my computer fits in it.

If it were half the price or 1.5-2 inches smaller, I'd probably not be able to part with it.

But I'm very sad. It's beautiful. You should all get one.

That is so sad, but I'm glad it's for a good cause or else you'll be in some financial trouble. It's a nice splurge, but not worth being broke over. Maybe in the future you can get it again!

trosmi, that bag is gorgeous and the ostrich handle is tdf. but even if i could afford it it's not worth $2160 to me.

yeah i wouldn't worry about it boymom, members of tfs have gotten good deals on authentic nightingales on ebay too! you could maybe find one for <1000 although not the same one with ostrich, probably normal distressed leather. you said you wished it was a bit smaller, how about the medium size? i think there's an authentic black distressed medium on ebay right now too

You know, when it first came out, I tried the medium, and it just felt and looked too small to my eye.

And are you sure the all leather one on ebay is a medium? It looks maxi to me! At least in the pic hanging on the door knob.

it's $1660 at barneys ...which is still overpriced imo esp. since it has the ugly new thin strap.

boymom, now you made me feel guilty about my purchase (it was the maxi with snake skin handles). I bought it for $2718 with tax and it's my first Givenchy bag. I'm not that familiar with givenchy and I thought the price is a bit up there. Maybe that's why I haven't used that bag yet (the tag is still attached too). I really like it a lot, but it's hard to justify the price. I wish it was under $2K.
