in case anybody hasn't checked yet,goldfrapp has a new teaser on their web site. a gorgeously shot film(of which,in one sequence features alison frolicking in the wood....my hero! )and some other naturistic shots. and the soundtrack is this glorious ambient sound which i would assume is from one of their upcoming releases. perhaps A&E ?? really,words cannot describe how happy i am,they're heading back into this direction again....

here are some new promo pics shot by the incomperable serge leblon. they're beautifully shot against a great atmosphere but i can't help feeling that's something is missing....dare i say a bit uninspiring. something about the styling in them seems a bit lacking to me. ???

im guessing it is about a girl whos just woken up in a hospital ward after an attempted suicide (?) because she was so heartbroken & the song is basically her recollection of it all.

just an idea really...i dont know for sure.

but apparently alison had her own "A&E" experience & song is loosely based on her short stay there.

its very commercial,a&e. its pretty...i like it...reminds me of cocteau twins' evolution on heaven or las vegas a bit but still not quite the esoteric direction i was thinking they were going to take. at least initially. the lyrics are pretty quirky though and quite melancholic. granted this is only the first release and the album isn't out yet so hopefully the horror aspect will answer my wariness.

i just hope that the sound of a&e isn't a sound that's carried throughout because after supernature i would fear that they would start alienating ALOT of their original fans that fell in love with felt mountain and black cherry.

^ ive had a sneeky peak at a few of the other tracks off of Seventh Tree & you shouldnt worry, i think A&E is the most commercial out of them all. which is probably why they chose it as their first single.

clowns, the opening track off ST, is just gorgeous & very reminiscent of felt mountain

Since it's the most commercial, I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album. I think I liked A&E better when I watched the video and heard it for the second time, but I was looking forward to something less commercial sounding.

much,much better!!! it's kind of a mixture of joni mitchell,renaissance folk and scott walker. at least that's my immediate judgement. its amazing though. definitely much closer to the world of felt mountain,especially some of their live performances. like that acoustic version of lovely head. i can't wait for the album. pre-ordering mine on amazon very soon.
