Goldfrapp

My favourites are:

Caravan Girl
Clowns
Cologne Cerrone Houdini

:crush:

I'm just entirely in love with this album  and thanks scott for all your insight, i really think you've got a great sense about what goldfrapp is all about

oh and of course, thank you for posting the lyric book ^_^

you guys are very welcome!

thank you too for the nice words, eli ^_^

you know, the mention of pop....i dunno why some people are so afraid of that word or even the idea of liking it,for some reason. personally,i'd rather hear pop music with a great sense of artistry and personality than i would some crappy idea of alternative. like the klaxons, the 'it' band of the moment, for instance...forgive me....but i just don't find that repetitive garage sound that's been done so much the last years, very special. and to me,goldfrapp with this album is bringing back the spirit of how pop music used to sound in the 70's when actual artists were considered pop rather than the same-y manufactured poseurs of today.

btw,eat yourself and clowns are perhaps the closest to that of that felt mountain sound on the whole album. they're two of my faves as well. but i really quite like the entire album now especially listening to it a couple more times. it really starts to take you.

The album starts getting better and better to more I listen it.

they have the clown(no 's') loop back up on their front page. there are two versions actually. i really hope they get released as mixes as they did with the brilliant lovely head(miss world & stare mesto)and utopia(new ears)mixes....they're incredibly enchanting. they do such amazing remixes of their own stuff.....and i haven't heard it since FM.

^Talking about miss world & stare mesto remixes, anybody has mp3 from them or is it possible to download/rip them? I only can listen to them via Feltmountainplayer :ermm:

The standouts for me are
Clowns
Eat Yourself
Cologne Cerrone Houdini
 I find those magical...
These are the only ones I love too... definitely stand out. And i've been listening to the album lots !

When I first heard Clowns I expected a channelling of Linda Perhacs, Buffy Saint-Marie and co. throughout.. so was really quite disappointing. I tried to avoid the reviews (and this thread!) until I had digested it myself, but all the folk labels were thrown around far too freely. They do great pop obviously, but so do plenty of people.. so I'd selfishly rather they satisfy my other musical needs

Eat yourself also sounds distinctively like Cocorosie to me.. So even the songs I love feel a bit derivative, though I hate to admit it. :ninja:

But the album really reinforces how good they are at creating cohesive albums of all sorts of styles. Usually when a band has great success with their debut, if their subsequent cds are less well received it's that they repeat the same thing without the magic, or try something new but aren't up to the change. Basically, i think that it's just my preferences that are the problem here. :p

I'm curious, how would people rank the albums?
for me: felt mountain, black cherry, seventh tree, supernature..

yeah i think we all can concur that those are indeed their standout tracks. those are definitely my faves too.

strawberry, but you aren't alone in that selfishness ;) even though i find the album utterly beautiful,as composed,it's still missing that aura of power and drama for me that FM and even black cherry carried so incredibly well.

anyone going to the show in NYC or SAN FRAN?

im going to the beacon in nyc :D cannot wait!

I cannot wait to see the show in Glasgow either!

I'm completely obsessed with Eat Yourself.

And I'm going to record a video of Happiness with my neighbours. If something good comes out, I'll show you :)

Right now:
Black cherry
Seventh tree
Supernature
Felt mountain

I guess that because I found this band during listening Train, Black cherry always have special place in my heart
I have never liked much Felt mountain, Supernature was kind of disappointed after Black cherry (even if there is Ooh la la) and Seventh tree is nice, nothing too special yet. But band is overall great, and I always come back their music.

My current order (which is likely to be the order they're always in):
Felt Mountain
Seventh Tree
Black Cherry
Supernature

oh yes,your best order-

you and i agree in that same pattern.

felt mountain
black cherry
seventh tree
supernature

I can't decide which one is my favourite, I love all the albums the same
