Gossip Girl (TV Series)

Wow. Was not expecting that last night. Finally excited for next week after a string of terrible, dull episodes.

I really want to know how they are going to explain how Bart faked his own death. Also, I really want to see Lily's face when she discovers Bart is alive (because, she's now married to Rufus, but she and Bart never officially divorced before he "died.") and how the show will handle that.... (knowing the writers, they'll probably retcon that the Bart agreed to secretly divorce Lily if she agreed to keep secret that he faked his death...)

God, that whole episode was so contrived. Every "surprise" was completely predictable. Loved Blair's Diana impersonation though.

^ I know, I thought the whole thing was a bit pathetic tbh. I also hate how they can't introduce a new character without making them scheming idiots. Can we leave that to Blair (she does it best) and just let Lola be a nice person? And the whole Bart thing was a bit stupid... at least there'll be more focus on Chuck in the episodes to come.

What bothers me about the whole Bart Bass is alive thing (besides being sooo predictable) is that in season three we saw a flashback of Bart in the hospital flatlining and a sheet being pulled over him..and now we have to forget that ever happened and it was all staged? And the writers telling us they've been planning this since the beginning? Yeah right..how stupid do you think we are..

haha silly stuff... we can now compare gossip girl to vampire diaries... all the dead people are never really dead. sooner or later they'll all come back. seriously??? -.-

I actually watched this episode, the first one in a very long time because I wanted to see Blair scheme although it was nowhere near as good as other schemes by Blair BUT correct me if I'm wrong but was there not an episode where Bart Bass was haunting Chuck? If I am correct, does that mean Chuck was hallucinating or was that real?

And Lola is Serena's half sister? Since when?

This episode was so predictable and it seems like everyone has given up when it has come to acting. The only people who seem to still be doing a job is Leighton and Ed.

This is why I don't trust the writers of this show. It's been very obvious since season 2 that they write for plot, rather than character development, but seriously. This is a new low for them on a show full of retconning and recycling.

Oh, well, it's a subpar series anyway. I'm glad Josh Safran got whatever's left of his dignity away from this shipwreck.

It's kind of his fault as the showrunner....
So Serena/Eric and Dan/Jenny have a half brother in common and now it also turns out that S/E also have a half sister that they thought was their cousin. What is wrong with these people!? Does birth control not exist in GG world?
Serena is basically the villain now, right?

It's the best thing that could ever happen to Gossip Girl in my opinion. First he ruins the show and then he leaves the sinking ship and let others clean up the mess he made, I say good ridance. At least now we have a chance of this show getting back on track again and going out with a bang while Mr. Safran ruins Smash.
From what I've read online, there isn't a Gossip Girl fan who's sad he's leaving. That says a lot.

Serena looks so miserable that it's hard to watch her moping face.

Well, people weren't sad when Stephanie Savage left to focus on Heart of Dixie either. I think it's because both of them made rather unexcusable comments trying to justify abusive behavior. And then tried to backtrack when caught on their comments. But Safran is actually getting a promotion of sorts if you think about. GG has 1 million viewers and falling. Smash has 6 million and the potential for more.

Frankly, Norman Buckley is the only person on the show I trust. He tells it like it is, and he doesn't backtrack. And he's not interested in fandom wars (but he won't endure abuse either from either dair or chair fans on twitter and will call people out on their tactlessness if they send stupid tweets to him). He has consistantly said he's only interested in the story. (But I'm quite partial to Buckley anyway, because his twitter is full of love for Old Hollywood, art, witty quotes, and books. He only really tweets about GG on Mondays.)

^^^That spoiler has been around for awhile. The fact that E! is trying to make that sound oh, so, new and scandalous goes to show how many weeks behind they are.

I'm more curious about the doppelganger that Blair mistakes for Dan that Serena has sex with in Campbell apt. (Interested cuz I want to see the actor's face and see how closely he resembles Penn.)

Oh, and the title "Return of the Ring" is a play on "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King." And, as I am a JRR Tolkien geek, I'm none too worried about the title cuz I know what happens in the RotK to the One Ring. :D

Gossip Girl wasn’t on The CW’s recent list of early (read: easy decision) renewals, but most insiders think the show will get a final season order (perhaps announced on the day of the network’s upfront next week?)
Monday night’s episode didn’t help the show’s chances, but at this point the show’s outcome is unlikely to change anyway: Gossip Girl (869,000 viewers, 0.4 adult demo rating) fell 50 percent this week to an all-time low.

Well, damn!

But seriously, Bass Industries intrigue storylines are the worst ever, and keep getting more painfully boring and horribly written by the season. And, despite the awesome actor who plays Bart Bass, even HE couldn't save it from being embarrassingly stupid. So, frankly, the ratings were deserved. If the writers haven't learned no.one.cares., it's their fault no.one.watches.

I feel like the only thing I love about the 5th season is the fact there're no Vanessa and Jenny. Ivy and Lola are so much better as the so-called opposite characters for Blair and Serena.

The CW has renewed Gossip Girl for a sixth and final season of 10 or 11 episodes, TVLine has learned.

What’s more, showrunner Stephanie Savage — who developed the show with Josh Schwartz — has promoted Co-EP Sara Goodman to exec producer, replacing Smash-bound Josh Safran.

^ STUPID decision.

what story line is even left? Nate coming out of the closet? Or Dan maybe?

It shouldve been cancelled after season 2 or 3.
