Gossip Girl (TV Series)

^^^ Hopefully, that will give them less opportunity to screw up Dan & Blair. I'm sure Chair is endgame, but still. I'm glad they're going to get another season at least to wrap it up, instead of being canceled abruptly due to the ratings which I was always afraid would happen, without giving them a chance for closure.

Did they actually say how many eps there would be. Usually it's 13. I think that will be enough time to wrap it up.

I actually miss the show. It feels like April is ages away.

^ No, nothing official yet...I'll be lost- they may find me wandering around the East 80s looking for the GG kids...

A 6th season, even a shorter one is too much. They should have ended it this year.

anyone else having trouble watching the episodes form outside the us (europe) now that megaupload is dead ? most of the sidereel ones dont work for me anymore

Some new interviews. Possibly Spoilery. I whited out the spoilers, so highlight if you want to see the responses.

Spoiler Chat Daily (March 30)

Danielle: I’m so far past bored with Blair and Humdrum Humphrey right now. Any Chuck-Blair news to keep me interested?

Will you take one half of that pairing and just accept our Gossip Girl scoop on Chuck Bass? You will? How nice of you! Josh Safran tells us that Chuck’s (Ed Westwick) journey for the rest of the season is all about his family. “With Bart [Bass], since he died in season two, we brought him back as a ghost in flashbacks, so that’s in our wheelhouse,” he says. “With Jack [Bass], it’s fun to have Desmond, especially after last year when he and Chuck banded together and made their relationship as right as they could. It’s fun to have him back this year on Chuck’s side. And Chuck’s storyline very much is about family so that’s why you will be seeing more of Jack.”

From eonline:

What’s ahead for Dan and Blair? Will they be happy for a while?
For us it’s been about, we knew we were going to tell the story that Blair has always wanted to be a princess, way back in season one, ever since she was a child, she’s wanted to be a princess. So now that that lifelong dream is gone, she’s able to step back and go, “Wow, that dream is over so what’s my next dream, who am I going to be next?” It’s really allowing her to come into her own and grow in a great way, with Dan by her side, is someone who has always accepted that growth in her. Her relationship with Chuck has always been fraught with a little bit of antagonism, it’s been sexy and also they tried to be there for each other but then things get in the way. And here she finally has a guy who is like, you go off and do what you need to do and I’ll be here. It’s fun to see when she comes back into her own. We have a storyline that’s coming up, that’s one of my favorite storylines ever in all five seasons for Blair. And I think the fans are really going to love. It’s pure vintage Blair.

Do you know the endgame for Blair and the others romantically?
Right now we’re only looking at endgame for this season because that’s how we are approaching it. I don’t want to say there is an answer because right now there isn’t actually a question. Blair is with Dan and that’s what it is. But it’s more about what happens when, Dan and Blair’s relationship is going to be challenged because the specter of Chuck is always going to be hanging over it, whether or not he’s even involved in it or not. Because Blair is always going to be aware that Dan knows how much she loved a man before him. And Dan is always going to be aware, even more so, of how tied up they were with each other and how they constantly return to each other at some point, invariably every year. That pressure might seep in and cause some trouble but whether that trouble is insurmountable people will have to wait and see.

Sorry. When I white words, they usually don't show up. At any rate, they aren't as clear to read so if you want to remain spoiler free, just don't take a hard look at any of the white wording.

From TVFanatic:
The Upper East Side will never be the same.

Speaking with TV Fanatic this afternoon, Gossip Girl executive producer Joshua Safran promised that the May 14 season finale culminates in a major cliffhanger that "changes the fabric of the show forever" and that fans will "realize without a doubt" the ensuing narratives it sets up for next fall ... with one possible exception.

"There's one particular character, you might not know what happens to them," he teased.

He wouldn't say who, or what the unifying storyline of this spring might be, but he did promise me there is one: "All the [storylines] that have continued through the royal wedding are going to land in the same place," he said. "Starting this Monday, you're going to see everything start to come together."

No small feat, considering the number of balls in the air at the moment.

There's Serena, who's been relegated to the back burner for much of this winter, but who's about to begin an intriguing new arc, and who the as-yet-untitled season finale episode "revolves around quite heavily."

With Jack (Desmond Harrington) and Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) set to return, "doors are opened that Chuck was not expecting to be opened," Safran said. "Things happen that change his perspective on who he is."

Several Upper East Siders will be looking to show Ivy the door, meanwhile, while It-Girl-in-waiting Lola (Ella Rae Peck) has no interest in the high society world she was unknowingly born into.

"So much of what we've done over the years has involved outsiders trying to break into this world ... now we have both somebody on the inside in Ivy who doesn't really belong, and Lola, who wants nothing to do with it," Safran added, cryptically noting that the Rhodes girls "may or may not be drawn together by a common bond."

There's also the minor matter of Dan and Blair, a.k.a. Dair.

The fact that Dair has become the most polarizing topic in Gossip Girl history isn't lost on its show-runner, who again insisted there is no "endgame" regarding the couple ... not that he'd tell us if there were.

"People always talk about endgames, but the thing is, if you have have a firm ending set in stone, everything you write runs into that wall," Safran said. "It has to be done with a shifting, malleable approach."

Sorry fans, I tried.

In the short term, we can still expect "the specter of Chuck" to continue looming over the new couple, he adds, with Dan possibly having "a hard time coming to terms with the stresses that brings."

At the same time, Dan "will continue help Blair rediscover Blair in a very sweet, good way," the EP reminded us, noting that she's finally broken the parameters of her relationships with Chuck and Louis.

Safran says Dan and Blair becoming a couple was the plan all season long, too.

"Last spring was the tease," he admitted. "We knew Dan and Blair were going to get together at some point this season, as Dan's feelings for her would only grow, and Blair would grow more aware of them."

"Blair gave up her control, her power in becoming a princess. Now that dream is over, for better or worse, and she's finally breaking free and finding out who she is. And from the beginning, Dan was the one basically saying 'I'll be here always, I accept whoever you are.'"

Currently filming the 24th and final episode of the fifth season, with the 18th airing Monday, Safran says fan backlash (or feedback in general) hasn't shaped any storylines because it logistically can't.

Not that he's unaware of the passions he's stirred in recent months.

"Say anything you want about me, it's my job, but please respect each other!" he joked, calling for civility among the respective camps as the show ramps up for its long-awaited spring run.

Wishful thinking, perhaps. But a nice sentiment.

I also trying to locate the interview, but in it Safran implies that who Blair chooses as her endgame partner will be clear THIS season finale but we won't be handed the cards as to why until next season.

Found it! I whited out the parts that seemed overly spoilery. From Perezhilton.com:
Ok, so … It's the end of the series. You're down to the wire. You have no choice, the network has started the final countdown on the Upper East Side. Which is it gonna be at the end game: DAIR or CHAIR?

It's not the end of the series yet, so I'm not going to answer that one! Nice try, though! (I can admit, however, that Blair's decision will be very clear by the end of this season).

Are there plans to ever have Kristen Bell make an appearance on the show before the series comes to an end? Possibly the last shot of the last episode where she watches Serena and Blair from a distance and snaps a picture with iPhone and the click is the last thing we hear of the UES?

Kristen is the voice of Gossip Girl, but we don't feel she is *actual* Gossip Girl. So no, Kristen won't appear on the show, as much as we love her.

Diana Payne (Liz Hurly) is coming back … is she's Chuck's mother or what?

Her return will definitely answer the question of who Chuck's mother is. I can say that much.

Speaking of mothers, does Dorota ever want to have that baby?!

Dorota will have had the baby by the time Monday's episode airs.

In the preview for your next episode, we saw Dan and Blair finding loooove in an elevator. How much more of that can we expect to see in the coming episodes?

Well, it won't be in an elevator, but these last run of episodes definitely turn up the heat. Especially the finale

Can Serena really bring herself to be the new Gossip Girl … or has she actually been Gossip Girl all along?!

That is the struggle of Monday's episode for Serena. And as to who has been Gossip Girl all along, well, let's just say that is something we aren't playing around with. They'll be a surprising end to that storyline this season…

Can we expect the royal Grimaldi family to make a reappearance on the show anytime soon? Louis? Beatrice?

There will be no Grimaldis appearing the rest of this season. That isn't to say we won't seem them again in the future — I, for one, love Beatrice — but there are no plans to at this time.

We're assuming that Georgina is gone for a bit, now that she is leaving her GG post to Serena. Will she be back? Wait, we didn't ask that right. What we mean to say is … PLEASE BRING BACK GEORGINA SPARKS!!!!

Oh, she'll be back. And this season, too.

Will we ever get some of the original favorites back on the show: Eric, Jenny or Vanessa?

We'd love to get them back. Stay tuned…

Which team are you on: Team Ivy or Team Charlie?

Who says they're separate teams? Oh wait, did I just give away something…?

Which guest star (Hilary Duff, Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Kevin Zegers, Cyrus's horrible artsfartsy son) did you enjoy the most, want to bring back if possible?

We'd love to round up as many of our former guest stars as we can for next year if it's our final season. I, for one, would love to see what Damien's doing now…

Can you confirm or deny that the next season will be GG's final and be a half season in the vein of One Tree Hill?

We can't confirm or deny at this time.

Can you tease one of the biggest developments that is coming in the final episodes of this season?

Who Diana Payne is, and what she's been doing in New York all the time, will be answered. And the answer goes back a very long time… and has even been on Gossip Girl before…

Last question: Where does Blair keep all of her old headbands and will she ever have a fire sale so we can buy one? (This is a serious question)

I will ask Eric Daman (Show Stylist) what he plans to do with them and get back to you.

And with that, we will be stationing ourself in front of the mailbox, waiting for our present from Blair Waldorf! LOL!

I just started rewatching the first season the other day. It's sad what the show has become, it used to be SO good!

Another interview. Yes, it's posted April Fool's Day, but it's consistant with the other interviews posted, so I don't think Safran is pulling our leg.

Blair chose Dan over Chuck and then the show went away for more than a month. During that time, what kind of reaction have you gotten? Some people are pretty mad...
Josh Safran: The Blair-Dan camp has been as vocal throughout the whole season as they are now. It was not like, "Oh my gosh, she made that choice!" I believe the audience understood that choice was coming, you know? Also, we cannot change where the stories are going now because the finale wraps in three days. It's that strange thing where you hear from the fans, and some people are very happy and some people are unhappy, and there is really not much you can do about it.

The one thing I can say, though, is that we are very grateful and feel very lucky that people, five seasons in, feel so passionate about these characters and about these relationships. We know that is very rare and we do not treat it lightly. You cannot plan for that. There is no way to engineer that. It's magic.

You just said it isn't as though you can change the direction of the story. But would you do anything differently if you could?
Safran: I don't think so, because we are telling the story that we believe in. Obviously, people have different points of view and that is the whole point of... existence. [Laughs.] So we respect and we understand different points of view, but this is the story that we want to tell and that is the story that we are telling.

What's the split of Dair to Chair fans? 50-50?
Safran: I would like to think that. It's not like we arrived at Dan and Blair because we thought, "Let's just put them together." We arrived at Dan and Blair because we felt that is where we were going. I would like to think that there is a larger portion of the audience who understands that. There are people who do not like it and, you know, all I can say to them is I'm sorry.

Now that Blair has made her choice, what will her new challenges be?
Safran: There are some really fun vintage Blair story lines coming up in her desire to return to her former self, or become an even better version of her former self. One of my favorites coming up is a great Blair and Dan story where they try to find their place in the world as a couple and find it easier said than done.

Does "vintage Blair" means the minions will be back for good? I loved Blair's bridesmaid auditions.
Safran: It is definitely along those lines. And the minions do make an appearance in the next episode after Monday's, but what I mean by "vintage Blair," [slightly spoilery) at least in this one case, is that she's going to come up against an antagonist that she sets about trying to change. But that antagonist is actually not a person. It is a thing. I'm excited about it so I don't want to spoil anything. I want people to be surprised.

What happens now to Chuck? Will he be able to focus on something else besides Blair?
Safran: Well, he will. One of the major themes of this season is growing up. These kids are pretty much adults. They are all basically 21, or about to be, and they really are moving into their adult lives and who they are going to be. Chuck has matured probably, I would say, the most this year.

(SPOILERY)
He meddled with Alessandra and Dan's book in Episode 16, but in the end he actually made it right. In Episode 17, he meddled again by revealing Dan as the person who sent the video of Chuck and Blair to Gossip Girl, like, "Oh, screw this. The gloves are off." But he lost. The new Chuck accepts that loss. Much like he said at the wedding, if she wants to marry somebody else, he want her to be happy and will not stand in her way. So Chuck has made as much peace with it as he can and is now going to be focused on thanking Jack for supposedly saving his life. Of course, there is a twist, and it's not what Chuck thought at all, and it opens up a whole new world for him that sort of shakes everything in his core.

And as that story line continues, he may or may not seek out Blair for help, and Blair may or may not feel compelled to help him, which may or may not cause problems for Blair and Dan.

Well teased! Serena's heart was also broken by the dawn of Dair. And now she has this laptop, which probably has a lot of incriminating things on it. Is she going to get even with him?
Safran: Serena has had an awful lot of things taken away from her, all the while trying to be a good person who supports the people who she cares about. Now this thing gets dropped in her lap via Georgina. Now that she maybe has a way to gain her power back, will she use it for good or will she use it for evil? We'll see where that exactly takes her in leveling the playing field amongst all her friends and enemies.

So she isn't over Dan?
Safran: I don't believe that her feelings have died.

Getting back to Dair, can you elaborate on the decision to put them together? How far back does it go?
Safran: I would like to say all the way back in Episode 4 in Season 1 we knew that they had a connection. We also knew that they were going to be the foils for each other and be aggravated with each other. They would constantly be at odds, but we always knew that when you are at odds, that means there is sort of something underneath, whether you like it or not. We knew that they had this spark and it was there for us to play with, at some point, if we wanted to or not. As the seasons progressed and you saw that relationship deepen, it just became more and more of an understanding between all of the writers that there was something real there between Dan and Blair. Last year, we realized Dan probably had [further] to go to have feelings for Blair because she had been terrible to him for so long, so then came the W magazine story. His feelings awakened first and then were not returned by her -- in that moment when she said that she did not feel anything in the kiss, but we knew that he did.

We knew where we were going to go in Season 5 right then. We knew that there was going to come a time where their friendship was only going to deepen and as that friendship deepened, Blair was going to begin to realize that Dan actually had these feelings for her and that was going to actually complicate her life. This season was very much about Blair. Ever since she was a child, we have said since Season 1, she always wanted to be queen, always wanted to be a princess. She finally got that dream this year, and then realized, "Wait a minute, I don't want this dream at all. Being a princess was not what I thought it was going to be. It's like Roman Holiday and I am stuck in a box." Coming out of that dream and into the arms of Dan, that was our goal. Here was this guy who has stood by her and been her friend and supported her. She realizes that he has these really true and honorable feelings for her and only wants what she wants for herself. They found each other.

You mentioned it started with Episode 4 in Season 1?
Safran: That was where Blair was dealing with her problems with her mother and the divorce and her issues with Serena, because her mother chose Serena over her, and Dan told her about his parents' divorce and with that they had a bonding moment. It was this one time when he let his guard down and she let her guard down and they actually connected as opposed to her again rejecting him.

Linking the next thing, since it's a potential spoiler alert.

Randy Overland, a BTS person on the show, was apparently forced to delete this tweet (even though his tweets are protected, it somehow leaked out), which had led to much speculation about what is going to happen to said cast member.

so is there still a glimmer of hope for dair if Ed is really leaving the show? (fingers crossed)

Holy hell! That was hot! And the banter between Dan and Blair between the sex. Just flawless. Elevator sex has to be one of the hottest sex scenes this show has produced for any couple.

But I must admit Blair and Dorota was adorable too.

The rest I didn't care much about but

~I think every building in Manhattan must be owned by or have some portion of it named for Bart, Chuck, or Jack by now. I think it's hilarious that the writers will screw other bits of continuity but still remember this. Yearly.

~I'm glad they are belated trying to clean up the Elizabeth Fisher storyline.

^ Yes, I always thought the idea of the Bass Empire was influenced by Trump, who I believe at last count had 13 different buildings (mostly very big!) in NYC- so it really can happen... ;)

Zzzzz... Blair and Dan are so wrong or each other.

Also, since when is Chuck not involved with any other characters ... he's the new Nate!

One of the reasons I get excited for the new Gossip Girl episodes is because I know the recap is coming tomorrow!!

I just was thinking- Serena isn't getting any action this year!! What's up with that- she used to be sneaking around with half of the UES!! :o

There goes any chance of seeing cool outfits until like July....

Gossip Girl is filming around43rd-45th and 5th- Vanderbilt in NYC.

FYI: This is most likely their last day on location for the season, filming most of the day (on Vanderbilt I believe) mid-morning – evening.

OnLocationVacations

Yeah, but we'll get to see the cast out and about at events this summer so that will be fun.

Since season 6 is their last, Eric better rev it up. I can't believe how many eyesores there were this season!

Does anyone know what happened to Nate's upper lip? I couldn't stare at anything else during his scenes (not that there are many of them..... )
