Gossip Girl (TV Series)

Diana is back and Nate is in trouble- the sort of trouble every young guy dreams of! So much for his new little girlfriend...

Serena is such a mess. I can't stand her and I loved her so much in 1st season.

Yeah, they really assasinated her character from season 2 onwards. I feel bad for Blake, because while her range is limited, she certainly managed to show S with complexity and depth, and now the character just been reduced to being a sl*tty backstabber.

It's 2 seasons overdue but I'm glad they reinforced that Blair is NOT okay with IP. Also, they paralleled last season by reminding us that she doesn't like feeling like she is just Chuck's property.

Why was Chuck wearing such an enormous amount of highlighter on his inner eyes last ep? He's gone from ill fighting suits to poorly applied makeup...things are really a mess in the house of Bass.

Except Norman Buckley and others associated with the show on twitter say the ratings don't matter and have repeated that assertion numerous times to those making accusations that certain storylines/ships/characters (cough dair cough) are the reason why the show's ratings are declining. (Just browse their tweets, they don't hesitate to talk back when ratings are brought up.) Also, the CW are too well aware that the audience is watching it on non-traditional platforms:

New episodes routinely arrived at the No. 1 most-downloaded spot on iTunes, and then there were the hundreds of thousands who were downloading free week-old episodes on the CW’s site. Even executives at Nielsen threw up their hands and admitted that Gossip Girl appeared to be speaking to an audience so young and tech-savvy they hadn’t really figured it out just yet.

source: GG changing successful model of TV show

Not to mention, Josh Schwartz does pay attention to the critics, and likes critical praise. And the critics have been consistant about liking one thing since last season.

And, frankly, I don't trust GG polls because it's been discovered that fans can "break into" the coding and cheat: inflating the numbers to bias certain characters or couples. (However, BTS GG twitter folks have also said repeatedly they don't give a damn about what trends or what wins polls either. So they probably will ignore the results of wetpaint too.)

I've decided I'm going to forgive every faux pas Eric Damen has ever committed on this show because I'm still howling at Chuck Bass being put into a red onesie. It's so OTT, but so deliciously funny. Poor Ed though!

So it was a onsie?! I saw this episode of Dr Phil where a guy dressed as an adult baby and got clothes made for him by people on ebay. Maybe Eric uses the same seller?

So, I've come to conclusion that all of Chuck's Mommy Issues and Nate's Cougar Attractions are worth it just for next week's episode. I LOL just watching the previews. Methinks Charles is going to need more therapy and bourbon to deal with seeing his Mum (of this season...) in her panties in his apartment.

Dan and Blair in bed arguing over authors, after realizing the world won't end if they can't figure out Brooklyn vs. UES now this very second, was adorable. They truly are the only couple that actually talks on GG.

Serena. You never learn, do you? Can't wait for GG to backfire on you.

I'm seriously intrigued by what Diana's secret is. And I don't even care about her storyline. But the way it was done made the reveal seem exciting. My guess: Jack is really Chuck's father. But fandom suspects it has something to do with apparently NotDead! Bart. ( Gasp! Diana runs a Zombie factory. :D)

Hard to know what to think about all of this...what do they have- 5 more episodes left?

24 altogether for this season. It's been renewed for a 6th and final season, but it'll be a shortened season (12 or 13 episodes).

You know, given how out-of-wack Chuck's family continuity issues are, I actually bought that convoluted explanation Diana gave. On any other show, I'd be going "oh, please, WTF is this logic?" but since the writers threw out logic in season 3 with Elizabeth Fisher, the retcon of Diana's actually helped Elizabeth Fisher's arc make sense.

Since when is paying someone to organize a party/give you the idea of organizing said party...bribing????????????
Anyway, I like Lily being badass. Goes with the storyline with the affidavit.

Remember when it only took one or two sentences for characters to do takedowns? The fact that characters now have to resort to summarizing whole season arcs to other characters goes to show just how ridiculously unrealistic the plots have gotten.

I was hating on Blair this episode, until she said she was acting the way she did, because she felt overshadowed and lost her self-worth and value after Chuck traded her a hotel (which is the 2nd? 3rd? time season IP been written in a BAD light, and a BAD reflection on Chuck) and Louis using her. She really is afraid of becoming the doormat. Which is why I loved that Dan immediately said "but you're fierce and outspoken!" (and loved even more so that he didn't make it about him a la "Remember I'm Chuck Bass and I love you.")

As to the Bass, I love fandom basically predicted two seasons ago that Jack is Chuck's father. (I forget where. Either TwoP or LJ is where I first read it.) And now it's being canonized. Ha! It certainly adds a new dimension to Chuck-Bart-Jack relationships though. Looking forward to how this plays out.

Random question:
Does anyone remember one episode where Blair makes fun of Serena because she "killed" one man and because she slept with Nate?? (while Blair and Nate where still together) Hard one, but which episode or season is that? TIA if anyone remembers :)

So sad Lily is terrible now. And Serena is following suit. Blair is humiliating herself and that idiot Ivy is ripping up million dollar checks? What HAPPENED?!
Loving Don't Trust The B*tch In Apartment 23 though, ex Blair sidekick Hazel and young Carol Rhodes!
