'Gothic' Style

Social experiment: persuaded a friend to dress full on goth so as to gauge the depth of those reacting differently to her, acting as her same old self.

People are puddles.

Not a big fan... Don't like skulls, no no

Found it! :buzz: This site has all the best EGL magazine scans:

A more industrial looking lolita... :flower: By the way, each Gothic group has a different title. I forget the name of this particular one, but I do remember seeing a website that defined them all. I do know that there's Sweet Lolitas (who wear mostly white), Elegant Gothic (which I like the best), Aristocratic (a more grown-up look), and a bunch more.

I very much like well-done Gothic style clothing, myself. Good goth clothing involves very rich materials and creative cutting and a lot more detail than you get in most mainstream fashion. I love the sort of Victorian + Punk aesthetic.

What I can do without is the typical Goth melodrama and attitude. If more goths just dressed crazy and listened to Industrial music, I'd squee loudly and go to a lot more Goth Night dances, but since a lot of them are overly melodramatic suckers who never outgrew teenaged angst, and get hung up on the whole "Vampyres & Darke Magick" schtik, I tend to tip-toe around the fringes of such events and people-watch until my eyes bulge.

A punky look. And softgrey, I suspect that the model is probably a guy. ;)

Actually, what I prefer about the EGLs is that you're supposed to be sweet! :P

I have this issue, actually, so just for y'all I translated some of his (it is a guy, purple :P ) stats....

Name: Riku
Age: 22
Blood type: O (they always put this in street snaps; in Japan it's believed that your blood type says something about your personality.)
His look today is something like 'good-looking guy meets cute-style'

The rest is just questions about where he got his clothes.
:flower:

Wonderful pics, purple!! :buzz:

I especially like this outfit:

I would so wear that outfit lol... I already have similar items in my closet. But I wouldn't wear the mesh shirt.... spiderwebs are a bit overdone.

Mmm,this is so good.
Aristocratic lolitas are my favourite.

thanks purple...i agree that the elegant golthic lolitas are the most appealing to me and the closest to my own personality...

it's quite worrying how many of those clothes i really really love...a whole new shopping arena...very dangerous...i mean i really LOVE some of this stuff...

and i agree with as you like it...the overly dramatic black roses/vampires and ugly shoe wearing goths really rub me the wrong way...but they definitely make me go

i have never seen a single person in nyc dressed in the gothic lolita style...i have a few babydoll dresses that i wear and i have a couple of friends who do a more street version of it...but i really wouldn't say it exists here...

can anyone prove me wrong?...

for example...i have this dress in black...and it's definitley got babydoll/lolita tendencies...but it's not so costumey...
