Daughter of a cook, she walks modeling marathons to help the family.
Alícia Uchôa of G1, in Rio
The face most seen this Fashion Rio is that of one Paulista. Born in Campinas and raised in São José dos Campos, Gracie Carvalho, 18 years old, began a career a little more than one year ago and in 08 was the model who walked the most Brazilian catwalks.
There were 68 shows between Fashion Rio and São Paulo Fashion Week. During Rio fashion week, she would be in 25 shows, out of 33 events.
Newly arrived for a season of work in New York,USA, she was away from home for a month and a half and abroad for the first time. She became accustomed with time to the americanised pronunciation of her name, because at home she is Gracie, with the sound/stress in the first syllable.
"I spoke only a little bit of English, on account of a course through the agency, and stayed in a house with solely foreign models ", she accounts, who is contracted to Marilyn,as are Top Models Adriana Lima and Carol Trentini.
Family of 17 children
Daughter of a cook and a workman, the model has, in total, 16 siblings. “I never would have imagined the life of a model would be so exhausting, but the work has helped me help my parents”, says Gracie, without money for her first book with her big agency, but has an agreement with them regarding the cost of soft services as they amount.
Dating for over two years, she says she enjoys hanging out with her boyfriend when she's home. “He is nice, only jealous when there is a picture of me with some male model”, she says.
NY and Paris
Among the works of the model was a campaign for GAP, posing for the lense of photographer Patrick Dermarchelier and a cover of L’Officiel.
When the season ends for Fashion Brazil – she will walk for São Paulo Fashion Week -, Gracie leaves for NY, with plans to go to Paris. “I don't like to think too much about it, it's good to just let things roll”,
she summarises.
