Just when I thought his collections couldn't get any worse...
Once again, there's very little difference between seasons...it's just another part of the same collection that expands over several seasons. It's sad when someone with no creativity or limited imagination is at the helm of a big fashion house.
At least Frida mixed up her seasons and tried new stuff regardless of whether it was a hit or not.
I really hope he takes a good hard look at his collections and realises he needs to do something else.
He's the new Dolce and Gabbana.

I thought it was FABULOUS! There were so many new things and so many beautiful things as well. There was a sequined section in the middle that had me drooling on my keyboard (figuritively of course). The shoes were out of this world. I thought it looked a lot cleaner and more thought out than Fall. I must say I loved it!

Loved many of the pieces and I love Alessandro's aesthetic but I do feel this needs quite a lot of editing. Sometimes, the looks just feel too heavy.

I LOVE this!!! The clothes were amazing! Yes, it was tricky and costumey in some quarters but it was bold, beautiful and dreamy. I liked how it was really varied in terms of the number of designs but felt well coordinated. I am also a fan of those massive hats and shoes! The show itself was stunning; from the music to the set and the general mood.

Like every season, beautiful clothes, I think most of the pieces were amazingly beautiful but the styling...

Alessandro helps his customer to save money: you buy his clothes this season; and you know you will still look like new season for the next years to come...it´s "see now, buy now, look like yesterday".

My heart goes out to this man. It's funny because i'm not usually into this kind of fashion, but there's so heartfelt, so beautiful about his vision to connect to me on a emotional level. It's another amazing collection, full of fabulous characters in equally fabulous clothes. There's a joy of dressing up, to put on a show with yourself, to be unapologetically fabulous, something that Galliano and McQueen used to do very well and a certain other designer is trying to do but failing miserably *cough cough*. And even if you don't want the whole drama, the separate pieces are strong and easily democratic to anyone's personal style. I just really LOVE it all!

Oh and he's getting pretty good at showmanship. The mood of the show was incredible with the lighting and fog, plus Florence Welch reading William Blake poems? That's cinematic alright.

At least he's consistent in his ugliness. this collection features some of the vilest things i've seen so far this season. Sometimes i even like some of his more delicate dresses, or his outerwear, but i pretty much hate everything here. So tacky i can't even like it ironically

Except that with Galliano and McQueen you had a new collection each season. And you could clearly differentiate one collection from another. There was actual design work under their collections, not just stylism.

The clothes are consistent - take that as you may. I was ready to start whining about the red hue but it turned out that the end of the runway was lit just right so there goes that.

Sure? Obviously i'm not comparing them creatively, just an overall vision of how one should approach fashion. And I think he does puts a great deal of work in his collections, maybe not in an effort to create something completely different each season, but more in a way to enrich and expand a continuing narrative. I think it's a little superficial to just say it's the same collection. It's familiar for sure, but each season he tries to add a little something: a silhouette, a fabric, a color, a print... things that wouldn't look odd next to old pieces but still would look fresh in the shops.

In a way, it's becoming very hard to judge a Gucci show.
If you like his vision, the clothes and the new spirit, you'll like it for what it is. If you wants something more out of it, it's almost hard to express it because you know that Michele is so commited to his vision that nothing will change in a short term.

As most of his collections, it's very hits/misses. It has a ton of references but yet so few new ideas. It's mostly the same pieces with different embellishments.
You cannot even compare it to Dolce & Gabbana or Valentino because what they are doing is still very seasonal.

The thing about Gucci is that it's so over-styled that you're almost forced to separate the items and instead of knowing if it's good or a bad, you're selecting items...Or shopping!

I've seen some great pants, beautiful shirts and all the shiny things are always worth it. It hate the obvious costumes. As always, there's a little reference to Tom Ford's Gucci. The black corset on the second photo of the first post is a reference to the corsets in the spring 2001 collection.

To finish i would say that i don't think that Gucci for now is something that worth to be experienced as a fashion show anymore. Everything is slightly the same and nothing really happens in the show. Even the mood is always the same.
Gucci is something that you experience in the e-shop or in stores. The show doesn't add anything to the clothes...

I won´t call changing the use of random kitsch ornaments something "new"...I even won´t call it design! It´s just very basic stylism.

You used the word "superficial"; and I think that´s the perfect word to describe Alessandro Michele´s work at Gucci. Basic garments from decades ago with kitschy ornaments splashed all over them. There´s no deep meaning here to this. No concept at all. And very little work as a designer.

I wouldn't call him a designer either, this guy is producing some of the most HORRIBLE PIECES of clothing I've ever seen in my entire life. it's pure ugliness, nothing more nothing less:sick:

just sick

It's curious, each season I'm more and more into this 'new Gucci'. This world of Alessandro is attractive to me somehow. I want to wear some pieces so bad!
I think that the real problem is that he is going too slow exploring his own vision. In each collection I can see that he went a little further in some direction, when it would be right if he were completely in this direction, for example, that jellyfish dress, it's a good idea for a entire collection. I think that's why we are all felling kinda boring watching his shows.
Well, I don't know if you guys are following what I'm saying...

Anyway, I liked the collection, and I couldn't be more happy that MFW is finally here.

This is by far his best collection and best show yet - for men's or women's. What differentiates this collection for me from all his previous shows is that this one seems to have some genuinely GORGEOUS pieces and looks - unlike most of his others that seem to be comprised of mostly "cute" or "pretty" clothes. I see some magnificent looks here and am loving the ones in particular that have a kind of couture flair.

Plus - the show itself really elevates the mood. The opium den set, the smoke filled runway, the mirrored walls and hanging mirrored chain curtains, the dark red lighting, the exotic soundtrack....it's all very evocative and glamorous and dare I say - erotic.

However - it is not without fault. I would really love to see him drop the slogans slapped on everything. They're ridiculous and ugly. I also think throwing in looks here and there like a studded denim jacket just feel completely useless and distracting. I also do not love his casting...it's way too juvenile. I wouldn't want supermodels stomping down the catwalk here, but maybe some models who wear the clothes with a bit more authority, understanding and knowingness.

And finally - he really needs to work on editing. Too many looks get bogged down with unnecessary accessories and while I understand the current trend of every model having a different hair and makeup look - I do think he could benefit from a bit more uniformity. There's so much going on in the clothes that I crave some cohesion - a look that binds all this together as well as giving a distinct look for each collection...a way to distinguish one from the other.
