Gucci S/S 2023 Milan

Undercover has done this twin concept not once but twice (S/S 2004 and S/S 2018) with the key difference that each pair of models wore similar outfits and not identical ones, but that would be too much effort for poor Alessandro.

It’s all so lazy with this collection, I just don’t see how the clothing relates to the concept (if it does at all…) and the twin thing just makes it all look like the prelude for a very bad circus act. Some of the draped dresses are ok though.

Clients: Gucci, I want "Louis Vuitton SS'13".
Gucci: We have "Louis Vuitton SS'13" at home.

The "Louis Vuitton SS'13" at home:

He needed to finish that "Fuori!!" print..."Fuori Alessandro Michele di Gucci!!!"

I find the twins show quite eery. A mix between the twins from "The Shining"; and a Dr. Mengele´s weat dream.

The clothes are the same clownish vintage costumes. And some Tom Ford era replicas here and there.

I will note that Sunnei Spring 2023 show yesterday also did the twins concept (new trend for some reason?) but with much more humor and entertainment

Someone wrote on this a couple of years ago that “twins are a trend”. How does that make sense? Like, I get it from a show perspective that maybe casting twins is “in”, but from a fashion standpoint, how can such a concept exist? It's so confusing. “Spring’s latest Trend= Twins”.... We are living through peak fashion journalism.

Obsessed with Marianne Faithfull doing the show’s voiceover! Only Marianne could do a spoken word version of an Olsen Twins song.

Really interesting concept and the clothes were great too!

nothing groundbreaking, but i have to be honest: i liked it!
especially to watch the twins close up. and to guess which of them walked before alone. it's a simple guilty pleasure.
they did really well with the casting. if only the clothes would be as interesting....

Agree 100% with Cathy Horyn:

Although the collection was chock-full of novel-looking items, including boldly patterned python boots, a flashy leather blouson jacket with tiger-striped leggings, nymphette chiffon, adorable denim overalls, and a cool, well-proportioned saddle-style bag from the early ’70s, it failed to give a sense of direction. That’s what one wants from Michele. Not more products, not a reprise of more vintage clothing (please, no), and not an attempt to merchandise to the whole world, with references to England, Japan, China, and parts of North Africa or the Middle East. Perhaps Michele should clear his head and put the real principles of design first.

THE CUT

Alessandro is talented but he needs a fcuking stylist, who needs to edit his collection and give him direction. This was a terrible collection and the creepy Adams family twins , but nothing was creepier than his show with the severed heads and dragon fetuses lol.
