Gwyneth Paltrow has launched an attack on Britain, saying it's cold, depressing and British customer service drives her nuts.
The US-born beauty, who moved to London to be with her Britsh husband, Coldplay star Chris Martin unleashed her string of pet hates in an interview with America's Marie Claire magazine.
The 'Sliding Doors' actress admitted she has grown to like Britain over the years, but still found it cold and depressing.
She said, "My husband thinks I'm obsessed with cleanliness and germs. I'm just like, 'The street is filthy, could we take off our shoes before we come into the house?" But Chris apparently takes it on the chin and imitates her by saying 'Ewww, oh my God!' in an American accent!
Paltrow also added, "The customer service is just rubbish in England and things take forever to get done. It drives me nuts."

The 33-year-old also advised US readers to pack warm clothes if they visit Britain, saying: "Bring a raincoat, definitely! Or at least a little umbrella you can fit in your bag, because it really always does rain!"

urh i hate it when celebrities get all, im too important for a country
whats wrong with a little, or a lot of rain? why is rain always considered bad :ermm:
i think if she really doesnt like it here she shouldnt live here...

^Yeh...I actually like the rain....it's not like a monsoon or anything. Its just enough rain to make it atmospheric.

^ you could even say that its like a mark of britain, its quite cute ^_^

She really doesn't keep her mouth shut, does she?

I'm sure that there are parts of America dirtied with the evidence of hard work. And I'm sure that Gwyneth has never seen them, because she doesn't do any hard work.

no offence, but if shes obsessed with cleanliness and germs, why live in the city?

geez, a couple years ago all the celebrities got too self righteous and decided to leave LA and move to england.

now i wonder what the "cool" new celebrity place will be.

I dunno....I think everyone's being a little hard on her. I mean you English/Londoners are used to cold/rain all the time. You've grown up in that atmosphere. But she hasn't. So when your used to a lotta sunshine, rain CAN make you depressed. I'm living proof. A little rain is good, but a lot of rain is a little much to me. (Not to mention in my case COTTON CANDY HAIR)
I'm sure she loves living with her hubby and that's good enough....but why can't we complain of things time to time?:P

But yea...she did complain about America saying she loved England b/c the papz are supposedly more *respectful* of her....hmm...

Excuse me Gwyneth, American service isn't superb either.....just come to a Carl's Jr. [where it takes literally 20 minutes to give your order at the drive through!] or a high end store/boutique. Some of the shop attendants are snobby and purposely give you slow service if you aren't deemed a "VIP" or if you aren't dressed to the nines [example, Kitson:yuk:  or Fred Segal]....

On the other hand, I've never been to the UK so I wouldn't know about the weather, service...etc.
Every city has a "filthy" place....for example, LA has its legendary smog....no city is entirely clean....

I like the rain actually  lol Do you suppose she actually said any of that? I remember her talking about London when she first moved there and seemed very keen on it

A part of me likes that Gwenyth says whatever she wants.... without thinking of the people she might irritate...

everybody knows that in england it always rains, if you say where does it rain people always say england, so it isnt like some kind of "out of the blue" rain, so she must of known about it so i think its her fault for moving here ^_^

Yeah the UK is pretty rubbish when it comes to efficiency but I'd still rather live in London than america any day!

I think she should move back to the states and she can take madge back with her.

She irritates me, I wish she'd just shut up. I guess she has a point though, in this case. The weather is so random here! For example yesterday it was light rain, sunny, hailing, windy, sunny again, then windy but sunny...whereas in Vancouver it would be steadily rainy...

OF course she has a point. Think about what she said. It rains, the streets are dirty and customer service isn't always a priority. Hardly controversial, and of course absolutely correct. I moan about the crap weather every day. I'm not from London but I do visit often, and it really is quite manky.

Just becuase she happens not to have been born here doesn't make those rather obvious things not true.
