Gwyneth Paltrow rubbishes Britain

True...

but it does annoy when the likes of Mrs Martin critcise Britain constantly. this is the millionth time she's passed a comment of this kind and I'm sure it won't be the last.

Bit of an exagerration, no?

I'm British and agree with her wholeheaterdly about London. Does that mean I should get out of Britain or never go to London or just never critisize anywhere (even mildly) for fear of eviction therefrom?

I'm fed up of Queen Paltrow....washed up has been who's peak has long been over reached - only real fame comes from being married to Chris Martin, being a piss poor Grace Kelly rip off and doing the odd voxpop in regards to the private lives of Jen and Brad.

Get out of the country if you don't like it, you snot bag.

that's a bit harsh... don't you think...?
I believe she has the same right like the rest of us to speak her mind..
the thing is... her words made it to the headlines and we don't..

I made a negative comment about New York once and got told by more native NYorkers than I can count, if you don't like it, f***k off. Just applying same principle I guess for Gwynnie.

So although my comment against moaning Gwynnie - who seems to have verbal diarrohea at the moment (what with attacking the former Pitts, attacking the press consistently for putting her in the tabloids, yet gladly posing for them when she has a movie to promote) is harsh....I think it's true.

sorry just noticed: to reply to this:

Gwynnie complains all the time about Britain..to the press and behind the scenes from exp.... on some occasions I always got the impression it was actually an intense dislike...and I mean intense....so if it's the hellhole she thinks it is....it makes perfect sense to leave. Why stay somewhere you don't like. And more importantly she has the money to get out - unlike others who don't like where they live - and go to pastures new. Chris is a devoted hubby..I'm sure the fella would uproot for her no problem. :P

Yep, New Yorkers sure will tell you where to go and how fast you can get there if you don't like it. And I'm one of them. Now, that I'm living in the South -- Southern are always trying to talk crap about NY. I defend the city I was born in and love constantly. I tell people all the time it should not be city vs. city. NY is not for everybody, just like VA, NC or Atlanta is not for everybody. It all depends on what you're looking for, in a city you would like to settle down in.

Sounds like Gwyneth is just homesick, b/c you can get bad customer service everywhere, all-day-everyday. I don't know too many places in the world where you can get good service on a consistent basis year after year. If she wants to talk about slow service go to any DMW in U.S.

New York obviously, is not the cleanest city, but I don't care, I  it anyway and it would not stop me from moving back (if my husband was willing to relocate).

So if anybody says anything negative  about NY out here, I handle it!

I think if you live in a country that is not yours by birth (or have not been a resident there for ((random guess)) five or ten years) you should be a little more careful about ragging on that country. I think London is very clean (though I did notice that when I blew my nose, black soot came out, haha). I don't know about customer service, but maybe Brits take their time because they know they won't be sued out the butt for being slow :innocent:

You must have ben travelling on the underground tube

I live in America, South Lake Tahoe, California to be exact. Before Tahoe I lived in Santa Barbara which is about 2 hours away from L.A. I loved living
in Santa Barbara but even a small city like that had days with alot of trash
on the ground and had smell of piss. Those damn hippies!! Tahoe, well, hehehehe, I have no complaints. I guess I got lucky?! Hehehehe.

Oh! A while back, I believe it was a year or two after 911, Gwyneth made
a remark about how she felt unsafe to return to the states and that she
would be better off in Europe. What she does not understand is that American business buildings don't have airplanes crashing into them everyday, and does not get bombed every day like Iraq. (our prez. is an idiot, simpleton by the way for attacking Iraq) She jump to conclusion and in a way has alienated her self, her reputation with not just the critics, but also from some of her American fans. As well Madonna. So, for that I could care less how far both of their careers exceed from this moment on, because I know people here can't stand both of them. Two big pests and I'm so glad they left this country.

It's true Gwyneth has had a pop at the US - as has Madonna - yet they make digs bout the UK also! they should just both bugger off and go live on a random island together away from everyone. Bunch of whinging spolit brats.

From one northerner who has lived in the South to another (I finally got out), I must tell you: Get out now and fast! I'm not kidding when I say that living in the South (NC) destroyed my life. And you're definately right about Southerners absolutely hating northerners, I got it all the time.

Gwyneth may be correct when she spoke about London, but she should be more diplomatic. She is Not british, so talking about London like she did, only shows the few education she had in home.

If she doesn't like to live there, then move to United States. and like roppal222 said, Madonna can go with her.

I as an American can't stand Gwyneth or Madonna. May you people of London keep them and enjoy them....hehehehe :P

Oh let her complain. Personally I loved London when I visited, I thought it was amazing and I would give my left foot to go back! I just moved to New York City from the quiet quaint South Carolina and I must say I have NEVER been in a more filthy city in my life, but I love it here. I just suck it up and enjoy life!

This whole thing is so strange. actually, it is nearly identical to what happened to David Duchovny here a few years back. I think that the article is mis-titled, and that it was trying to stir things up a bit? because she is quoted as saying nice things as well.

oh, and incase anyone is curious or missed it, while living up here (Vancouver) filming the x-files, Mr Duchovny made a comment about how much it rains here, and how it was driving him nuts. It was taken out of context in one of our big local papers and suddenly everyone hated the poor man.... and made his life miserable here, from what I have heard. it was all so silly! and no, it is not constantly raining/does not always rain. we get less rain than Seattle, statistically (according to the weather channel at least)

Paltrow: Brits smarter and more refined than Yanks
13/02/2006 12:00:00 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LONDON (KP International) - American actress Gwyneth Paltrow has 'fessed up to falling in love with England, and that her adopted home's people take the cake when it comes to brains.

"Brits are far more intelligent and civilized than Americans," remarked the "Proof" star. "I love the fact that you can hail a taxi and just pick up your pram [baby carriage] and put it in the back of the cab without having to collapse it."

The 33-year-old starlet currently resides in London with her British musician husband, Chris Martin, and their daughter, Apple.

"I love the parks and places I go for dinner, and my friends," Paltrow said of the UK's capital. "It's a pretty city, you know."

it seems like she likes to play both sides of the fence:

she wants to be cool and classy, but still stalk smack about people and places. which is not classy or cool. it just makes her seem spoiled and self important. without being born into the position she was born into, her moderate talent and beauty would never make her into a "fashion icon" or "star" in my book.

however, having said that, an image is just as much the product of those who edit it as those who project it, so maybe everyone who interviews her just hates her so they always put forth this dull whiney image and she's really nice underneath.
