Worse still, my concern that it wouldn't stop until the show was well over was beginning to look justified, and so, alas, the pain of walking on the gravel runway in the tiny, tall high heels was compounded by the heavy rain. Further, the U-shaped runway was way lengthier than the typical platform, and thanks to the rain and the wind, the hem of my dress was covered with muddy water.
