I know you are mainly referring to me, I do not comment to try and offend or "stir up" trouble or anything, its just my opinion and if you interpret that as "alarmingly negative" than that is your right but I believe the "balance" of opinionated comments come from negative views from one person, to extremely positive from another poster. Please don't get upset over a few comments you find offensive. Cheerio!
I'm mainly referring to you and a few others. You mentioned that you had made some positive remarks, however, I have not come across any.Perhaps I'm wrong.^_^ Anyway, let's not go back to the discussion again.

The charity thing...

My friend Helena Houdova (also model, she currently lives in LA) is working for her charity for children from Czech Republic without parents and no home. Every year she is looking for some people who could help her with some financial amount for her kids. Then she goes and buy some toys or make a trip for these kids.

She called Hanka and asked her to go to have a coffee and tell her about her project and if she could support this project. Hanka told her, she needs to talk to her agents first and then she will decide. She even didn't let Helena to explain her what is that project about! Helena said ok, let's talk tomorow, I'll call you! Hanka said ok, no problem. Next day, Helena called Hanka to ask how did she decide, if she would like to listen to her for a while and maybe support that. Hanka even didn't answer her phone!!! That wasn't nice at all! And I really don't know what to think about her now.

What do you think?

sorry for my english...

Thanks eunka we were all dying to hear that!
Well it sure wasnt nice from hanas side:blink: .She has such a good career, i bet she earns nice money, so was it that hard to donate some money for those poor children?!
But still i like hana:rolleyes:

I don't think you can conclude that Hana is not very nice because of the way she handled the charity business. There are several explanations.

Either she's not very nice and doesn't care about the Czech children in trouble or she doesn't have time right now to engage herself in charities. If your friend is engaged in a relatively small charity fund Hana would have to investigate this very carefully before she made a significant donation. She may not have time for that and might consult her economic advisor about it. There are many charities around and you can't donate to all of them, you know.

Thanks for your comments esmeraldgrubb.:flower: I apologise for having an attitude and I don't mean to have a go at you. I respect your opinion and feel I can now more understand where you're coming from. I can appreciate people who have eating disorders or are recovering from ones do not view Hana favourabaly. I suppose we could argue whether she actually is consciously and physically starving herself or not to get how she is; some people think she is others don't..I mean her healthy face and hair contradict her body.

Like I've said, I know she is thin, and there are pics of her I've seen and shows she has done where I have winced at just how thin she is, but I still like her immensely as a model and feel she will change as time goes on. I think she is quite possibly the most beautiful model around at the moment, very photogenic and her walk on the runway is fabulous. I do concede that if she were to put on a few more pounds she would be even greater.

I understand that the voices of dissent on here are of those who do not understand why people find her attractive and they think her fans are championing what they perceive as an eating disorder when in reality they think we should be rejecting it. I would say that I personally do not think Hana is as high up the ladder as othe rmodels, in fact I find it damn near impossible finding the same amount of editorials, campaigns that I seem to come across for other models. Sure she got the Vogue cover, but generally speaking I don't think she's as big as Daria, Julia, Natasha etc

I think a lot of people who praise Hana either really do like her genuinely or get fed up of people patronising them and telling them that it's somehow morally wrong to be a fan of hers and this in turn makes people think 'well who do you all think you are, I'll be a fan of whoever I like' As I have said there are many models who I think are not attractive/appealing for a variety of reasons and I may express every now and again my dilike but for the most part I keep my comments to myself and certainly do not insinuate myself into threads where people like that model just to make negative comments. If I don't care for something I generally won't make a comment unless someone's asking me for an opinion.

I still do truly believe that give it time and Hana will blossom more and put on the weight she needs. But in the meantime I won't reject her. If people do not like her and find it wrong or strange that people do, then I think it's a problem for them. I don't mean to be rude when I say that, but that's how I feel.

I still maintain that if you don't like someone and that their success is offensive to you then it still makes no sense why you take an interest in them. What would make more sense is if people created another thread entitled 'anti-Hana' where they could discuss exactly how they feel about her, call her overrated, unhealthy etc etc. I just find constant negativity really frustrating in the same way some people on here find the fact Hana has people who like her frustrating.

By all means criticise the girl, but your run the risk of actually allowing yourself to seriously hate Hana and the fact she has become successful. Surely we don't want it to come to that. Or not even that, i don't want to fall out with people on here, because I enjoy these forums. We're all different people with different viewpoints, so it's best we agree to disagree.

But what I will say is that at least we're all communicating. Personally, I don't want this forum to be an endless worshipping shrine to Hana - for I'm not into worshipping celebrities/models - and am happy to get involved in discussions, but as mentioned Hana's weight is such a contentious subject for people and usually people resort to just being plain nasty about the girl. I don't know how many times we can go round in a circle about it.

(ok I win for the longest rant :D )

(But esmeraldgrubb - I have no beef with you my dear and I respect your opinions immensely. I wouldn't want you to praise Hana endlessly in order to 'fit' in here or anything, and I think you can be balanced, so I apologise for going on and on...:D )

I'm with iluvjeisa on this one. Charities for the most part can be quite ruthless themselves, I lost count how many charities recently told me that the clothes and food (as well as money) I and many others were donating to them for the Tsunami disaster wasn't good enough and they just want cash.

It's easy to take the worst viewpoint of it when a model is at the centre of it because they have a reputation for being 'all about the money', especially ones that are climbing their way to the top, but I'd like to leave at the fact that I think there are two sides to every story.

*nods in agreeance with Ropal222*

you have articulated yourself and your point of view extremely well - i agree with all the points you have raised, thankyou for taking the time to make this post! :flower:

But she didn't even listen to what the other model had to say. That's sounds bad in my book.

Thank U Eternity! :flower:

I just read someone speculating Hana could have a dope problem....
*shakes her head* I suppose every 'discussion' has to scrape the barrel at some point

I'm interpereting such speculation as genuine concern for Hana's welfare and not just some patronising swipe, so I'm therefore also assuming that people who feel such heartfelt concern like this will write to Hana or her agency and raise these issues?????

I agree with your 'long rant' roppal, its everything I have wanted to say myself.

hana's malnourished. it doesn't matter if she has an eating disorder or not, for her health she should seriously gain some pounds. just like its unhealthy to be overweight, its unhealthy to be underweight. i mean, all models are underweight but at least they have some fat on their bones...but hana?

nonetheless she still remains my favourite, mainly because of her face, which i think is genuinely more pretty than daria or julia. i just think her modeling would even be better if she gained some weight, became a little healthier 'cause right now sometimes she looks a little listless and sad in some of her pics.

and i'm not going to say anything more on her weight...because just as i think its wrong to pick on someone being fat, its wrong to pick on someone for being skinny.

and as for the charity thing - i agree she could have listened, but we don't know the whole story and her perspective do we? maybe she's given to other charities for the Czech republic. Anyways, these days you have to be careful (though I'm sure the model girl was genuine) - I've certainly learned that. Its not always wise to donate to smaller, less unknown charities - did you hear about how some creeps posed as a charity for the Tsunami? And people gave thinking it was for the Tsunami victims, but in reality they were being swindled. Horrible!

oh roppal, hun, that was such an awesome response:wub: . You certainly have shown yourself to be incredibly tolerant, rational, and sympathetic to other's views and i find that incredibly refreshing. I have made it a point to try to bite my negative tongue a bit more about Hana, since my eating disorder does make me extremely biased and true, visiting this forum is probably not the best thing to get me feeling that sunshine feelin':innocent: and just end up upsetting sensative ol' me. I must say i am impressed with that long post of yours but it clearly makes clear whats on your mind.....and i thought I was the queen of very long rant's, i tip my hat to you missy! and again, thanks , for understanding where i am coming from, you are a great gal.:muscles:

Charity thing...

I understand Hanka needs to talk to her agents first, but the next day, she could answer the phone as she promised and say: ,,I'm sorry, it's not gonna work." or something... That is the point, why I'm sad about the whole thing. I know it's not her obligation to give someone her money, but she could just listen to Helena and then make her decision...

But anyway, thanx guys for your opinions... :flower: I just see it from my point of view, because I know both of them and both are my friends.
