thanks so much for your help! i'm going shopping today, so hopefully i'll find something :)

Being the indecisive gal that I am, please help me choose a handbag :)

Having tried to track down a large white classic Chanel in caviar leather, I've been advised to wait until cruise or SS 2007 to continue my search.

In the mean time.....
I want a bag that is
  • medium to large in size
  • slightly structured
  • can be hand carried and carried on the shoulder
  • under US$ 1500 would be great!
  • use it for work (I work in IT consultancy) and casual (going shopping, movies etc)
Bags I'm considering:-

Chloe Paddington (tan)
Is this colour still available?

Louis Vuitton Alma in epi leather (Blueberry or mocha) - see pics attached (louisvuitton.com)
Not sure if this would pass as a casual bag...

Any bag reccommendations?

Many thanks!

sparkly pink, both the Chloe and the Vuitton Alma are beautiful! I have the Alma in black Epi and I love it! Every outfit is more sophisticated with it! I have to say though that it is not really a "casual" bag. The Chloe is more casual, but I think the LV is more classic and will last you a lifetime.

How about the more structured Marc Jacobs bags? I think they work well dressed up or down.

Anyone know of similar bags to this style (botkier Emily from botkier.com)

i would go with the chocolate LV alma.....

but totally agree that MJ has some very nice bags that work well in the workplace as well as casually....(the venetia, sopia etc....)

mas2388 - ooh I totally forgot about Marc Jacobs - I'm a little worried that the quilted styles will seem a bit 'trendy' in a few year's time  . Lovely bags though, thanks for the suggestion!

jun3machina - Thanks jun - I think the Sophia is adorable!

Are Marc Jacobs meant to be hard to come by?

I live in London so there's a few places I'm sure will stock MJ, I hope I don't have to do the waiting game to track down a bag :(

Krystel - speedy's are lovely! I'd prefer something with more compartments though, as I'm forever digging around my bags to find things

sparklypink: Going back to Marc Jacobs, he has good non-quilted styles as well if you are afraid of being dated. If you like a lot of compartments, I suggest the Blake. Also, just in general, a metallic bag can go from day to night easily, but you might want to pick a neutral/matte metallic rather than something really shiny if you want to stay in season.

Hi Yasmin, I don't know if you are searching for a designer bag, but there are two bags in Urban Outfitters that are similar and come in lots of different colors. I like both bags in black, but they are also cute in cream. Hope this helps!

Thanks mas and jun!

I'm going to have a look at the matte coloured MJ bags, I just can't pull off a metallic :)

I love that bag! Really big and spacious, and slouchy. I found it too big for me (I'm 5'5, average build), but it's great if you like oversized look ;)

sparklypink, thank you, I noticed that bag today in person (in tan), but I didn't like the weird barrell things it has on the side on the bottom. It made her look like she was carrying a battering ram in the bottom of her bag. PS. I am 5'9 but slender build so I could probably carry off a medium but not huge bag okay

mas2388 I just LOVE that first bag!!! (the first 2 pics are of the same bag right?)
I saw a bag like this in green advertised by "chinese laundry" last year or so. Is that bag a copy of the chinese laundry, vice versa, or, basically, what is the original of that type of bag?

yasmin: I'm really not sure who the "original" is but some ideas might be Isabelle Fiore (which blkladylaw just purchased in bronze!) or Betsey Johnson since she likes to use a lot of studs and grommets on her bags.

I also found a Goldenbleu tote that is in the same vein, though not exactly the same, and one from Target too! It's a popular style!
