how about something a little more 'understated'...?

what about going with a patent ysl muse softie-- I think it would look nice with the new chloe shoes...:innocent:

emma- the muse is the front runner right now actually..:p
but for some reason i am resisting...
there are issues i have with it...
length of handle being the main one...
i want to be able to carry my bag on my shoulder OR on my arm...
this is a KEY issue for me and the main part of my struggle...
an adjustable strap/handle would be the ideal i think...
i may have to go up to the ysl store and check again...

maarit-that is ADORABLE...
i hadn't really considered the idea of going vintage...
i always feel like vintage bags are fragile and can't take daily wear and tear...
and i mean for this bag to be my everyday AND every night bag!...
so it can't be too big- can't be too small...
needs to go from day to night...
must be able to be worn with jeans as well as a party dress...

i just want to start a thread on patent leather bags in general...
i saw a great nude patent marni bag- i wish i could get that- but it was from italy and i think it's gone now..

Have you seen the huge vinyl Chanel coco's canvas bag? It's the huge trash-bagy thing on the runway...it's not too bad but I heard it's huge...something like 21inch wide for the small version...and at $995 for a vinyl bag it may be too much...I think it'll be too trendy for your taste, but that's all I can think of right now...ooh how about these Chloe patent bettys, tod's, or moschino?

softie i agree about the muse-- it looks great, but seems so impractical to heft around without a shoulder strap because it's a rather large bag and can get pretty heavy (at least the way I overburden my poor bags). that chloe one foxie posted is cute-- i saw the black patent version on sale at bergdorf last month, but i felt it was a little too courreges/retro for still being $900 (i guess i mean derivative-- there's nothing wrong with courreges!). but at least it can be worn on the shoulder. i was tempted...

thanks foxie...:flower:...

i saw the chloe one as well...
that is nice but i agree with emma that it didn't feel quite 'special' enough somehow...
it feels like a 'wear with jeans' kind of bag...
and i really don't wear jeans...
:p

i found some lovelies...
i am going to start a thread on patent bags and bags w/patent trim...
:D

softgrey did u check on Givenchy?
i really like how they are not that popular and how that u feel it's special unlike everyone else's...
u may wanna check the basic\original line if u want it with gold hardware..
let us know if u find anything...

softy- u will want a vintage bag. there are many which are understated to the point of being almost like a uniform bag. i have many patent vintage bags which i accumulated over the years. u should try ebay or vintage shops.

Hiya! I just finished a course of study and want to treat myself to a bag. Can anyone recommend a middle to large leather shoulder bag that is either white, mustard or a rich red colour please?

The designer bags i have at the moment are a petrol Fendi spy and an ivory MJ stam bag.

Recs don't have to be designer though...thanks a million for your help!

Hi, I'm looking for a rectangular, thin, shoulder bag very similar to art portfolio bags - except not so large.

This is similar to what I'm looking for as far as shape (but it's too large):

Bags like this are too small:

^ looking for something wider than that...

Ideas? :p (this is somewhat picky, I know)

Otherwise...any material, any color. Thanks for your suggestions. :flower:

hey (: im looking to buy a bag for my mommy! not too big (smaller than a4 paper) cause she's small sized and No LV. she likes chanel a bunch but any brand is ok and the bag has to close fully (as in it should be more secure than just a magnetic button - preferably with either a flap or a zip). ideas anyone? (: oh and budget i think around less than $3k? but Im open to suggestions

Thanks! (:

Pixie stix, how about this? Too small?

Lodis

Pic off zappos

Dimensions: 17" wide x 3" deep x 11" high.

*thinks to self...'how did I miss that one?'* It's actually fairly close to what I want, which is something simple...almost 2 dimensional and severely rectangular. I'm looking for variations in material and design, but the Lodis bag is something I'm keeping in mind. Thanks passerby. :flower:
