The chloe bay -- you said it's classic at first but then said it's seasonal. Which is it? :p

I think the only bag there thats suited for a guy would be the balenciaga. I would definatly go with that one! I think theres a dark grey for fall that would be great, and a cool purple too. The fakes will fade evntually but you'll still have your real one.

I can see that, but i actually don't agree. I think i could pulled off both the Chanel and the bay, less sure about bayswater.. + it's impratical as it only can be worn over the arm, or hand-hold. Does anyone have a picture of the messenger balenciaga in some nice colours? Is it correctly that they are around 1250$? I might be able to get one 30 % off though, as i've seen Balenciaga's marked down, yes, 30%, 2-3 times in August/Jan.

In about 2-3 months from here, i will go for a big shoppingtrip and also buy my very first designerbag.

Important things:

Cannot be over around 1,600 - 1,800 $, which cannot be changed, as it's because of what my creditcard actually can "pay". (I'm under 18, so i can't use more than aprox. 1,650$ pr fourth day, which seems alot, i know, but when you're buying something really big, a bigger limit would be good. And there's no way i'm carrying 2k in cash)
It has to be leather
Be worn over the shoulder
Good, last-for-15-years-quality
Classical, yet edgy/different/quirky

So far, i've been thinking of..

The bay by Chloe: I love it, it's probably great quality and it's pretty classic, but in general i think it's around 200 $ over my budget + too seasonal.

A le dix Balenciaga messenger-style: Newly discovered this, but i actually love it + it's very cool & edgy, yet still classical (which i now see thanks to GG ;) ).. My biggest concern is the fact that so many here have an "inspired" or directly fake bag. But then again, one of the men's seem to be more rare.

Bayswater by Mulberry. A very classical and lovely bag, very good quality.. but.. It cannot be worn over the shoulder, which is a huge shame, as it's the cheapest + loveable + adorable.

Classic Chanel medium or jumbo, in grey or purple leather: A lovely style, don't really need to say more, but i'm afraid the medium will be too small and the jumbo might be a bit too expensive.

Soo. Suggestions!!

Bump.

Beautiful Stranger- I'd go with the Balenciaga. It hits all the requirements you listed. In addition, the resale value is very good...provided you take good care of it and keep all the tags/dust bag etc. I have 3 Bbags, and can see myself wearing them for a long time to come. As for your concern about fakes, don't let this be an issue. I actually feel worse for people who carry Louis Vuitton bags because the fake LVs look so much worse than Fake Balenciagas.

I had a Mulberry Bayswater, but I fell out of love it really fast. The interior has no lining (it's raw suede), and the leather stains when it gets hit with water. It's also not a very quirky/edgy bag.

I agree with you 100% about the Chloe Bay. Don't spend that much money on a bag that will go on sale at the end of the season. There were so many Chloe bags on sale this past January (including Paddingtons!)...it really surprised me. I bet you a lot of people who bought these Chloe bags at full price are kicking themselves now. I know I would have.

As for the Chanel, these bags are more for looks than practicality. You have your whole life to buy Chanel.

Wow, that is actually a perfect answer. You listed all my thoughts. I assume we're not in family? The bayswater is out, we're agreeing on the bay, and for the Chanel, it's exactly what i thought. I'm so young! I'm hardly half way to THIRTHY, it's almost - wrong - to buy a Chanel this age.

So, unless i find another bag, i will, out of the ones listed, go w/ Balenciaga. Hey, maybe i'll even find on marked down 30%!

really want the Bottega shopper, but the closure really bothers me (no zipper) + it's too expensive, unless i find it at minimumly 20% off. Is that possible?

I think i like the emmy too, but it's again too seasonal.

I really like this Manri too (picture from net-a-porter):

..but in general, it's too plain. It's rather cheap though.

Anyway. Thanks for advice!!

bump. need some more opionions, especially on the Marni vs the Balenciaga + if it's possible to find a Bottega-bag, say, 30% off.

What bag would you suggest?

I'm looking for a simple everyday black leather bag that's med sz. My price range is $1500. I don't want chanel, balenciaga,or lv. TIA

I really love the nightingale these days, but overall, you'll get more answers if you ask in the handbag recommendation-thread.

I have decided that it is time for me to buy my very first designer handbag. Both as an investment and so I can enjoy it.
I sort of had my heart set on a red Chloe Paddington but seeing at how fast its value is dropping I dont think I want it any more. Simply because I would be devastated if 4 months time it gets reduced again... :(

I have now started looking at LV's and was wondering which one of these would you recommend.
Speedy 25
Damier Canvas Speedy 25
Speedy 25 Mandarin
Speedy 25 Red
Speedy 25 Black
Speedy 25 Mocha
Speedy 30
Damier Canvas Speedy 30
Speedy 35

I like these two the best:

Speedy 25 Red
Speedy 25 Black

because they are simple and not as common as the mono ones.

What do you think?

I am looking for a bag that is neutral, can be used day or night and matches good with silver jewelry: i am thinking of buying the fendi b bag or the blue spy (i love the combination black/blue). what do you think? other suggestions maybe (i notice that most bags have gold hardware...):

B BAG (pic from NAP):

^I have both and IMO the spy is easier to use. The B Fendi clasp is kind of irritating. Although I think the B. Fendi transitions from day to night better, the spy gets my vote for ease of use/practicality :)

thanks Noriko. Do you have the spy in this particular colour? how does it look irl? for me it is something different than always black.........

^lol no, thats probably the only spy color I dont have in some variation so I couldnt tell you :( I do have the black though, and honestly I dont like it as much as the brown, or even the taupe and brownish one that I used to have. It kind of reminds me of a darth vadar bag, so its in storage now lol. I'd say def go with that blue!

Anyone know any bags similar to the chloe bay satchel?
My friend, who is planning to buy her first designer bag, likes the bay.
And I'm trying to steer her away from buying the bay at full price, esp for her first bag and into something that is more of a classic bag that she can use for a long time.

I need A black bag with gold detailing.....would this Marc Jacobs stam do the trick??or...any of you got any other recommendations???

^Is there any specific reason you need the bag for PursePrincess? Or you had a sudden craving for black with gold h/w?
From the description you gave, I can think of a few other choices immediately : Bal work with gold GH, chanel cerf, chanel 2.55 with gold h/w, Gucci horsebit hobo, Chloe bay....... ;)

But the MJ stam that you have posted up there is a mighty fine choice too!

i already have the gerard darel 24 heures bag in black, the rosewood beige in savannah
should i go for the white studded or the same model in marine? i'm stuck
