The pinstripe/satin bags are great! :buzz:

The envelope one looks like it has a necktie on it! [/b][/quote]
It actually is a tie Brian.

with a tie tack. ;)

Hand-made Handbags

well, with all the designer bags, i thought i'd do a thread giving the spotlight to some up and coming designers....or some of us that like to make our own bags.....or even just neat one-of-a-kind bags... here's a couple i have done and am working on:

and a few more. the blue drawing is what im currently working on. its going to be done out of blue cotton velvet.....:D

Awesome portfolio jun3machina!!! :flower:

I love seeing purses made by individuals. Love the drawings too. I like how the drawings transform into a tangible object.

I've tried attempting a handbag myself, sadly I couldn't complete it all the way... even bought some leather for it but sourcing the hardware was a bear

Jun, those are amazing designs! And I love the bag you made in the first pic: unique, original, and definitely something I would be proud to carry. :flower:

making my own handbag -- suggestions??

hi, i want to construct my own tote, which seems pretty straightforward, but i need help figuring out what fabric to choose. i was thinking of sewing in a durable lining, and choosing a nicer fabric for the outside? also, i could make two totes: one for everyday use and another for dressy occasions.

i'd appreciate any suggestions you may have! thanks! :flower: :flower: :flower:

For a durable inside fabric, I would suggest a canvas type of material, maybe something that may have a little water resistance to it. The outside fabric is up to you. I might suggest maybe picking up some webbed handles as they'll hold up a lot better than fabric ones.

Surprisingly, wal-mart has a lot of handbag hardware now... so if you even wanted to add handle rings to it, you could.

If you h ave any other questions, I'd be happy to help. ;)

/\ it should just be added to the other thread, i think...

if you want a waterproof interior, look for a nylon preferrably rip-stop. i think if you pic out a good quality fabric, it would stand up just as well as webbing...depends how casual you'd like it to be. i just bought a marc jacobs denim tote and he used courduroy for the handles, which wears well, like denim, and is washable and all that good stuff. PM me if you have any more questions too. i work at a fabric store and make my own bags. i have a bunch posted in another thread...

thanks for all the suggestions! maybe i can deconstruct an exisiting bag/ garment i have lying around, or get it for cheap at a thrift store, otherwise i'll check the fabric store for canvas or nylon, and also i'll check out wal-mart.
