Agreed! It seems like the foreign editions agreed to this cover because it's a global pop star, meaning easier sell. The sad part though is that American Harper's actually diluted their own 140yr old brand with this arrangement because it means they'll never have an actual exclusive for September.

The edits here are quite stellar. Much more interesting than Spanish Vogue. Lauren Hutton's feature especially, and and maybe Zlata Magnafic's shot with the mauve/purple feathers would've made a great cover.

I don't like that shot of Katy for a cover, it's lacking in impact, because the shapes aren't that interesting or elegant, her face seems too far away to make any real impact, and what you're left with is a lot of awkward white space to fill.

US Bazaar had the better cover of the bunch, because it went for the close-up.
