has any one heard of this dental operation?

hey my best friend has an very minor underbite but she has always been realy beautiful but a few days ago she had a mouth operation.I don't know what it is called but they basically broke her jaw to move the bottom teeth back to set the jaw in the right position.I saw her today and she looked terrible her mouth was so swollen and she could only drink through a straw!Does anyone know about this kind of operation it seems like torture!Will she go back to her beautiful self do you think,im realy worried for her!?

I had the opposite last year. The healing takes a while but she will go to back to her beautiful self only slightly better! I'm happy I did it. Just be supportive, it will be okay

do you honestly think it will make her ugly?
come on. the operation is for the sole purpose of making her look better.
plus dentists are not out to get you (the majority of them at least) they would not suggest it if it wasn't necessary and going to be effective.

by the way it's called mandibular displacement

I've had the oposite (I had an overbite) they broke the lower jaw and bought it forward, as it was too small.

I have heard of people having a similar procedure. Ugh...sounds very painful! I hate going to the dentist for anything.

i hear that operation is stupid..esp when they give you the choice
they stuff coke up ur nose to numb it and stick the tube through the nostril. i hear that it many times dosent heal properly so my socials teacher has to go in for more surgery and a friend of mine has been in pain ever since he got it.

my sister had her lower jaw pulled forward and upper jaw put back. she had to suck liquids through a straw for weeks afterwards. its been 3 years and she still can't touch yogurt or a milkshake haha. i could have had my lower jaw pulled forward, but chose not to.

hmm..maybe this isnt the same operation, but the one im talking about they take a cotton swab and put coke on it, then put it up your nose to numb it so they can put the tube up your nostril.
