Haute Couture Clients

Talk about damning with faint praise.

It's couture, not creating Greek Fire or something... there's no way these techniques would be difficult to re-learn. For all we know, the same employees could still be at Dior in theory!
I don´t like the dress when worn by the daughter. I like the dress when worn by the mother. What´s the problem?

I don't think either look great?

I guess so. I just had in mind some of the Russian/Mongolian stuff Galliano showed and it just seems so unconventional to try to figure out and recreate. That stuff always looked like possibility was pushed to its limits.

They learn the same savoir-faire endlessly. And they usually keep the samples of everything and they have patterns and things like that.

Yes, a big house like Chanel will try to keep the savoir-faire forever but still some techniques can be lost, remember Mme Pouzieux featured in the documentary "Signé Chanel" ? She was the only one who knew how to do an specific braid technique, I imagine after her death that technique is gone.

Filmed in June and July 2020.
And, emotion, for the first time, the successors of MADAME POUZIEUX show how they continue to master the iconic CHANEL braids!

Talia Yan in Valentino Le club couture
...this must be the worst performing PPP couture collection in terms of sales, too camp and "in your face" for the regular customer and quite unforgiving in terms of shapes and color combination

Ahaha. You are talking as if this particular thread doesn’t prove that Couture clients are no matter what « not regular customers » and therefore wears things that don’t suit their body type, are weird in terms of color combination with their personal styling that is also a lot of time questionable.

And tbh, in reality, we (women not just Couture clients) wears or buy what makes us feel good and not necessarily what looks good on us lol.

The Dell heiress' wedding gown is superb. The husband though... For every wedding gown order, these Maisons de Couture need to start offering a mandatory sur-mesure service for grooms called "How He's Supposed To Make An Effort Too: A Suit That Will Compliment Your Dress"

This thread is my guilty pleasure. What fascinates me is that it highlights the fact that in the end, it's not about what you wear, it's who you are when you wear it. The "character" makes the piece work, dare I say even more so than the design. I'm not talking about beauty or body types because it's refreshing to see all these pieces in their "reality", but you can truly feel the difference between the clients who embody the designs, and those who look so disconnected from them and end up looking like they're wearing either a costume or worse even, something very pedestrian. One could wear the most beautiful design from a wonderful couturier, and yet completely shift it.

Even though I like the dress and the concept, considering the mismatch between the couple’s outfits, the sand couple reminds me of those movies where the English bought slaves from West Africa.
