haute couture seasons... help!

Question!

The up and coming haute couture shows are listed as A/W 07/08 shows - does this mean they are an influence & inspiration to A/W 07/08 clothing? I was always under the impression that they'd be an introduction to the designers next collection - in this case SS 08.

Confused! Can anyone help?

Couture shows are shown closer the season that they are for. (F/W is shown in July, which starts the Fall season) This is because they don't need to sell the clothes to boutiques and department stores. However, some designers tend to put a lot of their elements from their couture shows into their next RTW collection. (AKA John Galliano at Dior)

^Yep, but mostly on the next summer season (sept-oct).
