Heels for Men

I posted a while ago about shoes I bought so I thought I would demonstrate how it looks.
I am a guy and my girlfriend suggested I wear shoes with a heel as flat shoes tend to hurt me after a while. So I checked the mens shoes for shoes with heels and could find either none, very expensive prices or really uncortable as guys shoes tend to be very heavy. So I now wear womens boots with a heel as they are alot cheaper, more comfortable and greater range. The highest ones I have got are about 3 inches. The ones demonstrated in the picture (link) below are about 2 1/2.

heres the picture..

I have lifted my left leg slighly to show the heel but I normally wear long bootcut type trousers to cover the heel (just like the right leg in the picture). On the street no-one even notices and even when it was pointed out to my girlfriends friend she was had to get me to show her the heel to believe they are womens shoes, but when she saw it she thought it was cool and asked her boyfriend to wear shoes like that.

So what do you all think about this look.
Ok....In my opinion regardless of foot problems or whatever it is, men should not wear boots with heel on them, especially women's boots.....unless your a cross dresser  Other then that it's too feminine....I saw your example picture and I sure hope that wasn't you with boot-cut jeans trying those boots on? Or was that your girlfriends?  :D :flower:

I like the look as long as it suits the man. I find that slim guys with more feminine features look good in heels while built or very bulky men just don't look good in them. When big bulky guys wear heels it looks a bit off-balance to me.

Thanks for sending me this link. I missed it before.

I am a guy, medium build, who has been observing, buying and wearing women's shoes for more than 20 years. I have a fairly nice collection of women's shoes, and I enjoy wearing them because of the "naughty" feeling from doing so when conventional wisdom says that I probably should not be wearing them. I have a few pairs of women's jeans that I usually wear my shoes with, but that is the extent of "dressing up." I find it simply exciting to be out and about while wearing women's shoes. I must say that I prefer to see a woman wearing a nice pair of sexy shoes. But, I have come to the point where I would really like to wear women's shoes on a more regular basis. In the office at work, there are about 20 women who wear very nice (and sexy) shoes on a daily basis. Sometimes it seems as if there is a competition to see which of them can wear the sexiest shoes. This drives me absolutely crazy. I find myself constantly gawking at their shoes which makes me just want to slip on a pair of women's shoes even more. Women's shoes offer so many fun and exciting choices compared to a few boring styles of men's shoes. I know that women's shoes will probably never look as good on me as they would on the women they were intended for. But, I think most of my shoes don't look half bad on me.

I am glad to have found a place like this where I can read other opinions on this subject, especially from the ladies. I definitely want to know what the women here think of men wearing women's shoes. I would like to get to know others here who are as interested in shoes as I am. I know that women are the experts when it comes to heels and such, and I would certainly like to learn from the experts.

I have photos of my shoes posted on the link below. Please note that I do have an album containing wet & messy shoe pics for those who like that sort of thing. I look forward to meeting others here.

I couldn't agree more! And the same goes for big, bulky women. I was trying on shoes in a dept. store once and a rather cheerful, round little lady said, "You can wear heels well, 'cause you're tall and slim. If I wore those, I'd look like an olive on a toothpick!"

Hi,

I've been wearing women's shoes on and off now for a year - flats and heels (I've always admired them for many years previous to me actually buying them). As, Kneehighs has been saying, I'm still experimenting on getting my looks right. My reasons for wearing women's shoes - choice (men's shoe choice lacks compared to the ladies) and to enjoy what the girls have been enjoying for a long time. It also gives me (in a NON-sexual way) a great buzz. I enjoy the great styles the girls enjoy each year! I also think it is a good look too combined with the right trousers/jeans, top, coat etc - as Kneehighs and JimC have been demonstrating.

I don't just go for any shoe (so no fluffy pink mules or Paris Hilton type shoes :D). It has to work for ME and the outfit.

Seeing as we're talking about men in heels, here's an outfit I wore out on the town in London about a month ago:

I apologise for the blurry picture.

I have pictures of me in other outfits but they can be for another thread.

I think that there is nothing wrong with a guy wearing heels, and the right shoes with the right outfit can work.
But i think the delicacy of a stiletto or a pointy toe is not in proportion with any man, and just looks too femenine and incongrous to really be seen as a coheasive part of your male outfit. For a man's high heel, the heel should be thick and chunky and the toe should be squared or round. This way it will blend with your overall look, but still have a bit of the daring and unexpected

I did a quick search on Zappos, and found a lot of women's shoes that look like mens, but with a heel. Here are some that I think give examples of what I mean

In my opinion, only the middle bottom two would look good on a woman, but all of them would look decent on a man, and under jeans

I'm a guy and I really do like the brown boot, bottom, third from the left. In fact I just got off of Zappos looking for it, but couldn't find it. Can you tell me the name of that boot? Thanks.

Hey, nice choices, Ms 84! And for those who are fond of something a bit lighter than boots, here are a couple I found:

Hello stilettogirl84,

I think I understand what you mean and I like some of your choices above too. But I wouldn't exclude stilettos for men generally. I'm skinny and I think they can look as good on me like on women. I've just bought some simple granny boots and wear them with skinny jeans and it blends in well. But I admit that with normal cut guys jeans it may not look good.

BTW, one could also turn this reasoning around: Women shouldn't wear thick and chunky heels then because they aren't "feminine" enough and don't blend in with the overall look. Or cowBOY-style boots or other "masculine" wear...

I actually do feel that way! I wear stilettos, or I wear flats. I don't like chunky heels for women, and i hate that those (and platforms) seem to be coming back into style now

I guess, if like you said the guy is skinny enough, the stiletto might work- with very tight Dior homme type clothes

but- the picture two posts up- It was a case of scrolldown. Heels could have worked with his body and those jeans- but not THOSE heels. too big on top small on bottom-

no offense intended  Heel-D

Stilettogirl84, thank you for your generous and open minded feedback. :)

To be honest I don't expect everybody to think the stillettos work - but I have fun wearing them and I like the look on me anyway. No offence was taken.

On to the chunkier heels you talk about....

I love the bottom right hand two boots in your first pic the best and I would wear them like a shot! :)

The suggestions of boots you make are similar to these boots I saw the other week:

These immediately caught my eye and may become a purchase at some point in the future.

Like I said I do vary what I wear depending on mood, confidence and sometimes shear bravery. The heeled shoes I own vary from wedges to block heels to a few pairs of stilletos (with the bits inbetween). The other week I wore some block heeled boots similar to the last pair on your first photo, with some GAP jeans (which pretty much covered the heel) and a cool sweater into London.

Today I wore these:

Oprington Wedge Boots by Clarks. Very comfy! The heel is approx. 2 inches and a bit.

...with this outfit to work:

A pretty casual look and I think it works very well IMO. (Apologies again for the crude and blurry picture and the jumper looks a bit crumpled from sitting down too). I sometimes wear two inch tan block heels to work and some other brown wedge boots I bought from New Look in the January sales. All I find are very comfortable for all day wearing.

BTW - I'm between a UK size 7 and 8 (a US 9.5 to 10.5), it really depends on the shoe!

Or those heels, but some jeans that are a bit tighter and a more fitted, waisted jacket?

It took me a while to learn it: You have to combine a certain length of the point of the shoe with the right width of the pants hem. Interestingly, when I started to wear skinnier pants with pointed toed shoes my feet looked to large! (My size is only EU 39.5-40 / US 9.5-10). So I take shoes that are a bit shorter now.

Heel-D,
I like that lace-up boots you posted, too.
But I'd have the same problem with them that I have with all womens boots: It is much too wide at the calfes! I haven't found any boot that fits me yet.

Ajott
I have the same problem - I take UK size 8 / EUR 41, but have very thin calves - the shaft of all knee-length boots is too wide for me, even when tucking in the jeans. Do you just not buy knee-lengths or do you have them adjusted? I'd be interested to know.
