To spice up the discussion, here are some shots I took in Milan from Helmut´s last menswear collection, F/W 2005. Since he couldn´t finish it by himself, it would be interesting to know what the "design team" contributed and what was still his work... Enjoy!

Good God !!!

That dark brown ribbed leather jacket , in the first pic of your second four , is absolutely magnificent .

My heart quails at the very sight of it .

It´s actually leather worked on ribbed knitware - I don´t remember if it is specially glued or sewn on top but it was definitely VERY new...

AND covetable , no matter how much I'll burn in hell for that particular deadly sin .

And this is coming from a someone with an embarrassingly large collection of leather jackets by St.Laurent Rive Gauche ( as it was first called ) , Cerruti 1881 , Claude Montana , Giorgio Armani , early Gianni Versace , Marithe et Francois Girbaud pour COMPAGNIE DES MONTAGNES ET DES FORETS , one by Hermes , one by Jean Claude Jitrois and one by Hedi Slimane .

It's one of those items that you see and KNOW it's just for you , although consequent to the above , I will NOT be buying it .

Hope I do NOT come across as a braggart , as that is FAR from my intention .

Yes, sir! The grey wool jacket looks quite nice, as well.

And is that model wearing the DH destroyed jeans from Strip?

hmm what sgoing on i thought there was no clothes for fall 05? the helmut store in new york should carry this stuff for one last time instead of closing down.

It could be a 'new' product from the HL label.

Haha, funny suggestions

these are actually my own jeans (DH S/S 2004, indeed), this is me trying on a coat that was at least 2 sizes too big for me ^_^

Thanks for posting the pics, Jost. The leather jacket and the grey blazer are really incredible. Just out of curiousity... do you remember about how much each of them cost?

Also... nice jeans, btw.

John

The pricing was quite reasonable as far as I can remember... mainly because Prada understood the difficulty of selling the collection from seasons ago.

The blazer was somewhere around 750 - 800€, whereas the leather jacket was close to 1500€.

I notice from the ior Homme MSN website that you are the ' Black all Black ' who regales members and keeps them spellbound , with exclusive pics and reviews of rhe shows .

I had a slight suspicion , now confirmed , from the Germany location and your mention of buying as a career .

Please keep us up to date with your inside knowledge , these Helmut Lang pieces are an absolute revelation to me as I have never paid him much interest before , merely blamed him as one of those designers who saw off the Claude Montana - Thierry Mugler generation .

Thanks SO much for bringing all these pics in . It makes the Helmut Lang label situation ALL the more poignant , one hopes that he WILL set up again on his own in Paris this autumn .

Many thanks once again .

BTW
I REALLY was not bragging in my post earlier here , merely trying to establish that I know whereof I speak in the specialised field of leather jackets ...................... :innocent:

hehe, ´enuff praised here, you´ll make me blush

Yeah, I do remember one of your posts in which you said that Mugler´s wife/muse took revenge on him when she comitted suicide in a Helmut Lang outfit - I never knew they were rivals?!

Let´s see what is happening with Helmut - one source says he might never come back, from others (a former assistant of Helmut´s who is now working for Yohji) I heard he will be back shortly... word is that he was not allowed to design for at least one season when he quit the contract with Prada, I got this confirmed by the Milanese sales directress and the guy I was just reffering to.

Prada is very quiet about their future moves with the house but I guess they are right in between negotiations to sell the brand if they quit producing a collection after F/W 2005. Only time will tell!

Don't worry , I'm only being overtly sycophantic ( in other wors - a crawler ) , so that you will give us posts like this Helmut Lang one .

Actually , it wasn't me who mentioned the Helmut Lang dress , although I obviously knew about the suicide . It was a great tragedy , and one that ruined Claude's career as he turned to the bottle and Coke etc ; the truly pathetic aspect being , according to PrinceOfCats , that he was out chasing boys at the time of her death . Yves Saint Laurent said that he could have been his successor if he had only remained stable , and he is the one to know .

I found this , the other day , a pic taken at his wedding on 22nd. of July 1993 , at tne city hall in Paris . Sorry about the obscure patch , I don't have a subscription to Getty images .

As for Helmut , he'll be back as he's still an enormous influence on younger designers and a certain commercial power accrues to that .

Awfully sorry about the now nonexistant pic . I've humbly asked a kind mod to remove it .

Thanks for the pics, tricotineacetat. It looks quite promising! Did you buy any of it?
