Helmut Lang Resort 2025 New York

so monotous and sexless, everything helmut was not

his clothes are not bad but theyre just there doing and saying nothing

I think people in this thread are being super critical waaaaaaay too easily. This is the first time in a long time that a promising entrance into Helmut Lang has happened. The design needs time to massage into a new identity. While not jaw-droopingly gorgeous, it is a decent showing. Mindful that this is also a pre-season collection, shown off runway.

I am happy about Peter Do taking this label on. The Helmut Lang signature has been so far removed from fashion mainstream that a preliminary run to see where the buyers and customers respond most is both smart and safe.

I know we're here to be critical of fashion, I get that. But be realistic, this label needs a resurgence.
It won't happen overnight or even in a quick one or two years, let alone one or two seasons.

I am not a Phoebe fan but when old Celine and now her line is more Helmut Lang than this... Helmut Lang's elements and style have always been in the fashion conversation, just saying...

No. OG Helmut has shaped my fashion life more than any other designer. He is and will always be my first fashion love. This brand's constant failure after his departure is a great cautionary tale to either invest in a great talent, or let it pass into fashion history. They’ve attempted to resurrect this brand for an over a decade now— with each successor just tarnishing the brand even more than before; with this latest attempt resembling a sloppy knockoff. How long before they understand that unless they can get someone of Hedi and Phoebe’s talents that understand Helmut’s spirit and essence, cutting and pasting his signature into some fashion’s sloppy Frankenstein’s Monster as Peter’s doing, just doesn’t get a pass???

Yeezy is more fresh, more energizing, and more creative than this dated slop-- which Peter seems to have ripped off from for a large portion of his offering. No one will buy this— not the OG Helmut devotees, not the casual fashion fan, and absolutely not the influencers— all of whom mayl come to the shows, wear the free merch and follow the brand's socials, but they’re not paying for any of this. No one will. Pater will be gone from this brand in a year or two.

Seriously painful to look at. I wish I could say most of it is just 'mediocre', but it's just unappealing, even appalling sometimes. I am an OG PD fan, but he has been such a disappointment in the past couple of years. All the talent he ever promised has definitely not been delivered. I wonder sometimes if he is just too young and inexperienced or if he's actually being somehow pressured to design like this? But his eponymous label is also showing stuff along these lines and this is wayy too long to simply excuse this as a 'creative block'.

Is it that he's focusing too much on this 'capsule wardrobe' concept, which I personally find to be complete BS? And it's even worse and works even less if combined with 'convertible pieces' No one has a capsule wardrobe that has been entirely and carefully calculated and designed by any label. This is a myth and utter BS. If anyone has a capsule wardrobe it is not just comprised of what anyone on the internet defines as 'basics' (basics can be anything for anyone, depending on your lifestyle, personality, and taste). Thinking that this has anything to do with reality and with what everyone is really wearing is a fallacy and just shows how many designers are out of touch.

the only time these helmut lang corpse reanimations had any attention was when they dropped some handcuff bracelets and rereleased cuiron. should have been a hint to the investors that folks are pretty much only interested in the original output.

Will the resurgence happen with those types of clothes though?

I mean, clearly Raf Simons understood more Helmut Lang than him.

When I look at what’s going on at MM6, I’m sure with a talented individual, something can happen with Helmut Lang.

I think Helmut Lang the brand has to reclaim Helmut Lang’s body of work before moving to something else. And to have authority, it has to be perfectly executed…Which is not the case here.

I just realised Helmut Lang is the same Japanese company 'Fast Retailing' as Uniqlo, GU, Theory and J Brand... aka the richest man in Japan

No wonder they got everything wrong, however I wonder if Peter Do will do a Uniqlo collab next if they want to raise his profile to the mainstream

Time will tell.

This is trash.

I know personally for a fact that Mr. Lang would rather they shut the label down than see it continue like this.

I wish the industry would stop pretending that Peter Do is a good designer.

God I hope not.

They released a Uniqlo x Helmut Lang capsule last year. I have a pair and they’re honestly some of the best jeans I own.

They have all original labelling, rivets and tags. Only thing that says Uniqlo is the care label.

Fast Retailing should give up on this brand and sell it to a European owner who could actually handle a brand like this. The Helmut Lang brand may appear American in its thematics, but its brutalist, sexy, razor sharp aesthetic is very European.
