Fast Retailing should give up on this brand and sell it to a European owner who could actually handle a brand like this. The Helmut Lang brand may appear American in its thematics, but its brutalist, sexy, razor sharp aesthetic is very European.

Exactly, Helmut Lang would probably thrive under OTB ownership. Rizzo has a very unconventional approach to corporate fashion business that could actually accommadate the brand's needs. Fast Retailing has too much of a boxed-in formulaic approach for the revival of the brand. The simple fact that they've fallen into the trap of the insular New York design scene says a lot.
