I was looking into a recent Newport News catalog and noticed some high-heeled booties that had something unusual for boots- peep-toes. I generally think of classy high-heeled shoes as elegant shoes to wear. It's elegance that I think comes with a smooth, easy-in, easy-out deal. In the context of chic and classy high-heeled shoes, I'm not too fond of the laces. I'd go with some dressy oxfords if I wanted to wear some laced shoes.
As far as some of these high-heeled, laced boots and booties... I dislike all the openings on some of the boots in Post #1. And I know what some of you are going to say. "But John, at least these shoes are different." Well sometimes, different can be disastrous if executed badly. About the best laced, high-heeled boots or shoes I've seen are some of those "Granny" boots offered in Newport News catalogs. I usually prefer boot-like shoes to just be boots or high-heeled oxfords. I dislike the slingback and open-toe look to boots. Some of the boots from Page 1 are horrible. I'm sure most fashionistas couldn't care about my thoughts on these boots with openings, especially those who feel you're REQUIRED to tuck pants into some of these horrendous boots. I'd rather have some boot-like mules (like some from Steve Madden that I've seen on TV once) if I were a lady.
The wedge oxfords from Post #3 look like a great mix of casual and classy. I usually count such laced shoes as casual. I can't really understand the look of those wedges at the back. They don't seem too comfortable to walk around in. The edge of the heel of those oxfords are moved up. I'd hate to think about climbing up stairs or stepping backwards with the heels of these wedges. Can't imagine it if I were a lady. I fear I'd fall over backwards and hurt myself.
Post #4 has some of those high-heeled shoes with the open toes that I dislike. I remember ten years ago that some sandals were made where you you had to lace up to keep in place. Same sandal look, just a combination of traditional sneaker and sandal. I'm sorry... I don't like this combination. Terrible footwear idea. When I think of sandals, I think of easy-on, easy-off. Nothing can be more classy than a nice ankle strap. But the rest of the shoes look terrible in my view.
Some of these shoes are bloody terrible. I'm sorry.
