I always look forward to this event, but a bit disappointed with what is shown so far. I wish they were all more adventurous in cutting and constructing, they have no commercial pressures after all, and should really show off their imagination, innovation, technique and skills. A lot of looks here are about styling and layering. I still like this better than Central St Martin's graduate shows though.

    it's a good point
though i think it's also a great challenge to create something interesting and wearable (in real life) also
i like that aspect in many of the pieces here

even for myself, i would want to make a garment i could wear.. rather than something that might turn into "art for art's sake" or technique for technique's sake...

i still remember yu fukumoto from few years ago , her egg collection
i think i would be a fan of her if she had her own brand.. *wub*

It could be the gloomy economic news that make everyone more "realistic"...I was hoping for more experimentation and innovation because haute couture will not deliver it, and the only ones left are the schools. Sad for me, but anyway, this is still a cool event with a lot to oggle. I'm noting the layering for my own wardrobe...^_^

I love "La Jetee", not just because it's one of my favourite films, but this collection is rather clever and glamourous (I wish Dior Homme could do some of this!) though I can't see much to do with the Chris Marker film at all.

^still much better than most of the other school collections,if you ask me.

now some of these images though are from third year students so they have to work around a specific design theme. final year students really is where you should find the students exploring their own ideas.

now here are some of the final year students. there are ALOT this year!!! more than i have ever witnessed at antwerp. usually there has been no more than 10-12....there is 16 students this year. maybe the cirriculum lightened up a bit since linda loppa left and there aren't as many drop-outs. anyway.....pretty impressive roster though.
