Hot Showers Vs. Cold Showers

I'm more of a cold shower person myself... but since it's quite cold over here these days, I'll take warm ones and end on a cool note!.. B)

I was told if you take hot showers too often it can cause capillaries to break in your skin. When I got a facial the facialist said thats what caused the broken capillaries on my cheeks, because I was washing my face in hot water. Now I try to wash my face in lukewarm water followed with a splash of cold. Same goes for the shower.

I'm usually cold-blooded like a reptile, so under no certain circumstances would I ever willingly consider taking a cold shower, unless the weather outdoors was ominously humid to the point that it was debilitatingly uncomfortable.

I start off with warm then cold...to move my blood circulation its quite healthy and kills the celliute! its amazing..

I usually take cold showers but when I'm utterly exhausted, I prefer taking hot showers just to ease the veins and muscles.

I take hot showers to open up my pores then I clean away.
Then follow up with a quick cold rinse!

i don't like hot showers/baths. i feel gross from the heat.

i usually take warm showers. i will take a coldish one if it is hot outside.

i've heard that cold water is really good for your hair so when i wash my hair, i usually put the shower on the coldest setting for about a minute before i get out.

i love a hot steamy bath/shower....but, my skin hates it . i just put oil in the bath water and use an xtra moisturizing creme after the shower.

oils in the bath water..hmm great suggestion :shifty:
i can't resist a steamy hot bath..even during summer days

I've been taking cold showers for the better part of a week now (right after I walk half a mile on the treadmill), and I have to say, I absolutely love it. The skin on my entire body actually LOOKS better, let alone how it feels, and the skin on my face has improved rapidly as well. I am prone to rosacea and enlarged pores on my forehead, two things I thought I was to be stuck with forever, and I'm noticing a difference. I will have to test this for a few weeks to see how much better it gets, but I'm so willing to do it now. Wish I had known earlier that cold showers/cold water to wash my face would have this effect---it's such an easy thing to do.

i live in singapore so its always HOT HOT HOT and humid, but i still take only hot showers. i've been doing it ever since i was a kid so im used to it. i can't take cold showers at all. i used to try a few years back but i always ended up feeling really awful and i would start hyperventilating sometimes.

but i've realised that its not very good for my skin at all so now what i do is i first get into the shower when its hot then slowly i make it colder until its quite cold. that way it doesnt feel so bad.

omg...i think i could never ever take a cold shower :ninja: even if its warm outside (but then i rather go in the lake :P) i always feel cold so a good hot shower in the morning is the best to get me awake. though, i know that cold showers are good for the skin and blood circulation, as already mentioned above. but well...

i always have cold shower..it wakes me up in the morning!!!

^same for me! If I don't I just feel weird. At first, it was like a challenge but now I love the feeling and my skin is smoother, tighter too.

I think it really has to do with where you live. I know I can't take a cold shower, 'think I'm too finicky.. I'm always cold and used to taking warm-hot showers. Specially when it's snowing, I just need my hot hot shower to get comfortable.

But I guess people from Russia, they must live taking only hot hot showers, and people from south America, like indigenous people, they probably are used to taking cold showers all the time.

i only take cold showers or baths when in a hurry and with no time to go through the whole hot shower process

Since its summer and I have no reason to wake up early I have no need for a hot steamy wake up shower. So after I work out I have been taking nice cold showers. It feels absolutely wonderful.
