How do you deal with a bad haircut?

My hair has been cut into layers (even though i told this hairdresser i didn't want them and I'm trying to grow out my hair!) and it's like this:

The layers at the front just hang down flat and don't brush back like the woman in the link! How would I make them do that?

It won't stay when I use my straighteners, and even when it does, the top layers stick out. It looks fine wavy, but my hair (although naturally a bit wavy) loses the curls and waves after about half an hour and my hair ends up half straight with the top layers sticking out!

Please help me, I look like a cave woman with a mullet and I have no idea what to do :(

Are you sure it's that bad? The hair in the picture looks cute!

Maybe you could try using a curl-booster product? Or something that will hold the waves when your hair is wavy. My hair does the same it lays pin straight on the top and waves at the bottom...sometimes scrunching your hair while you dry it works.

Also you could try pinning up the parts you don't like...If it's the front parts maybe you could pin them back.

Good luck!

if your'e allright with a fringe, sometimes cutting one can solve the problem of weird top-layers (i did it recently.) otherwise, are you blowdrying your hair? sometimes that can help with volume and shape, as well as with where your hair falls (back/forward/side etc). we all rely so much on flat-irons now, but those can make layers look weird, flat, and choppy -- try some volumizing mousse and blow-drying your head upside down for a bit and then styling with a round brush as you finish drying it, which is how it looks that woman's hair was styled to me.

look at is as an opportunity to play around with your hair too -- try some new styles/updos, part it differently, or just play with it until you find a way to make it work. clips, pins, scarves, and headbands can make awkward length layers cute as they grow out, as could a simple partial french braid that pulls only the weird-length pieces off your face.

worst case scenario, most stylists are pretty forgiving if you call them and say you're not totally thrilled with your cut and will change it up a bit for you free of charge!

Thanks, you guys :flower:

I may have to cut it into a proper fringe - I'm not too keen on getting the hairdresser to cut it again, so I'll try and figure out how to DIY!

No, I actually have never blow-dried my hair before! It's definitely something to try. I'll have to look at a few tutorials online as I'm worried my hair will turn into a frizzy mess the first time! I'll also have a go at using a mousse and a curl-boosting type product, as well!

lafindesiecle, you are totally right - I should start playing around with my hair - who knows? I might really hit on something gorgeous!

Thanks again, it's really helped :D

I don't suppose you know of any good hairdryers (or what to look for in a hairdryer?)?

^I have the same problem as you do!:( Yesterday I came back from my hairdresser, and made me so many layers that actually look so ugly, like my hair was cut by a child.

I always had so long and good hair, but now I feel like my best feature is ruined,it makes me so depressed :(

Lamia, I know exactly how you feel! I used to get complimented on my hair but now nothing lol! Hair should grow about half an inch a month so that might make any really short layers look a bit better but still, it really does suck! xxx

^We should pray together that our hair grows out fater than ever  Wish you luck with it  From now on,headbands and clips will be my best friends

I once wore a gucci scarf as a bandana for a whole month :innocent: ....
