Hi everyone,
Three months ago I created a new digital magazine on social media called Five in Fashion (@fiveinfashion) where the content is ALWAYS showed in 5 slides.
I created it because I was feeling overwhelmed with following too many pages who were always 'saying' the same; I was overwhelmed with scrolling 50 looks per show; I was frustrated because if I wanted to see a detailed article/show/editorial/campaign I had to pay a subscription. So I found myself wanting an outlet which would get to the point - a magazine that cuts through the noise, is quick and easy to consume and completely free as I believe publications should be.
So, in practise, @fiveinfashion is something like:
- instead of a 50 look show, I handpick and show the 5 highlights of the show;
- instead of trying to keep up with the many campaigns of the season, I handpick and show the 5 standout campaigns of the said season;
and so on.
At first I was afraid I was minimizing the 50 looks a show and the many campaigns of the season, but then I thought if I feature many aspects of that show and of a brand's campaign it's a way of actually highlighting them instead of minimizing them. For instance, I might do a post about the 5 best accessories from the Celine show, but then tomorrow I do another Celine show post where I post about the main looks of that show. Same for campaigns or editorials, like I don't include a Missoni campaign in the 5 best campaigns of the season - later on I might do a post about the 5 overlooked Missoni campaigns of the last decade. I find that when the content is shown like this people are more likely to pay attention to it whereas if it's shown as an overload.
That is the concept. I truly want this to more than a social media page and be more of modern-day-digital-first-magazine, whatever that might be. I also think, long-term, this concept has potential to evolve though I might be biased.
If you're curious to see it, check/follow the Instagram @fiveinfashion which is the main platform. I'm genuinely interested to know your thoughts and open to your feedback.
This turned out longer that I'd hoped so thank you so much for reading!
