so, whats wrong with not liking LV or IT bags ?
do we ALL need to slave for designer bags?
i dont get it , why do you LV bag-lovers feel 'offended'?
I'm not at all offended by Tsur's post, just maybe a little annoyed. I think that if a poster wants to encourage a disciplined, courteous dialogue, their own posts have to have those same qualities. Coming on as a new poster and immediately posting inflammatory, outrageous remarks isn't the way to go about things.

Lena, I'm sure you'd be a little miffed if someone new came on saying "I HATE COMME DES GARCONS" OR "I DESPISE MARGIELA EVERYONE WHO WEARS IT IS STUPID." Generalizations are never a good way to go about things and to generalize every LV bag owner as trashy labelwhores is a bit much.

excuses chick, but i seriously cant see anything "inflammatory" or " outrageous" in someone posting against LVbags. To each their own and all opinions have to be free to be voiced, this is not the LVMH forums right ?

as for your personal example on me, i honestly wouldnt care less, i dont feel 'emotional' with CDG or Margiela, anyone hooked on labels is bad news for me.
why should i feel "outraged" with those that diss Margiela? And so many do right here at FS, even 'close' FS frinds of mine do and i respect their very own personal taste.
Look here, i'm not a MMM shareholder, people can hold their own taste and keep their freedom of expressing it without making anyone mad or offended.

those are just labels, and they are not even your own labels.

peace and chill for all :flower:

rudeness and bitchy over-reactions are always make me touchy, but at least i can always apologise softgrey

(thats why i seldom post in some FS areas, some members seem to be praying to their bags at night :P )

Just to let you all know I am 25 and I just bought the Dooney It bag in periwinkle. I think they are adorable. I need a cute bright summer bag.

In the winter I bought a gucci, forgot what it's called but it's black and I wanted something bright for summer.

Honestly I really love the marc jacobs bags, but I don't want to spend the 1000$ for one.

Why would anyone want an LV bag? You look stupid. People who really are rich don't show off their money it's dumb and you end up getting taken advantage of when people see you in that way. I would be so ashamed to carry lv.

someone explain the lv thing to me...

T :bunny:
UHM, you are totaly contradictory to yourself. You say you hate LV but yet you buy a bag (Dooney and Bourke "it' bag) that copied LVs ideas. Plus you wear Gucci, which is even tackier than LV in the showyness department. Whatever.

You don't think this post was the least bit inflammatory?

"Why would anyone want an LV bag? You look stupid. People who really are rich don't show off their money it's dumb and you end up getting taken advantage of when people see you in that way. I would be so ashamed to carry lv."

Surely there is a more mature way to profess a distaste for a label. Perhaps. . . "I don't understand the appeal of the Louis Vuitton logo. Why are some people so entranced by it?" Can we agree that this is a better approach? I'm all for a debate over the appeal of Vuitton, if it is done in a courteous manner that doesn't involve insults being hurled and judgments being made. I'd almost venture to say that the original poster was a troll, logging on just to stir up opinions amongst us.

As for your "praying to their bags" comment, which I'm not sure who it was directed towards since I don't see anyone putting their lives on the line in this thread. I can only say that yes, fashion is a powerful thing. And yes, people do get extremely upset when the beauty of their favorite bag or designer or label is called into question. If you are so mature that you can handle someone trashing your most beloved designer, more power to you. However, and maybe this is unfortunate, I don't think most people can say the same.

I have to say that I 100% agree with what Chic said. Inflammatory comments due tend to INFLAME people. You can easily post your opinion without using offensive language.

:flower:

I'm fairly new and have found everyone to be extremely nice and helpful. If I blasted a group of people for their likes/dislikes, I would expect to be blasted back.

no... i dont because i could also be ashamed if i had to hold a LV bag honestly i would

as for

maybe its a good idea to give it a try and stop getting that upset...
the labels one hold are only labels , no need to identify with them or get upset when others find them unattractive.

those who live and pray to their LV (or other IT bags and related lux obsessions) know who they are, i was talking in general, i had no-one specific in mind...
please dont get things so very personal, its a bit too much and i'm off this thread , had enough defending the obvious... voicing one's personal view is not a crime and will always happen, so please dont get offended or touchy and do let people express their personal views

some of those replies to the original poster were more rude than her/his own initial post.. i'm out of here

AGREE AGREE AGREE.

I think its rather funny that she came here, was new, and the first thing she does is bring up what she hates. How ridiculous, I though people came here because they love fashion, not to trash what other people love. It'd be one thing if this came up in a discussion, but she totaly pulled this out of her tacky dooney and bourke bag.

I think someone already said what i guess she came here to do. Open up a can of worms. If this is the case, she has succeeded - cuz everyone is getting upset :(

I don't like MMM that much, and Lena knows it. Still friends! :flower:

This is exactly like that Dooney & Bourke thread where everyone got all riled up over their handbags except this time the roles are reversed.

You know what, we always scare people off.
My advice to all people who join the spot, is the first thing you should not do, is make a new topic. Everyone who does (with a few exeptions) gets shouted at.
erhhh :ermm: excuses but i will not agree with your comment ahhGucci,
i cant see why new members should avoid posting
their own new topics right away, they are most welcome to give it a try
and they usually get quite friendly feedback

its true that tsur did not achieved the best possible reaction but i dont think
it was her/his own fault (after all she/he apologised in second post) it was more an over reaction from few 'regular' members that almost created a tense atmosphere here, but now, thats also gone

as for those that 'shout at' new members, please do be more tolerate and polite to our new guests :flower:

in anycase tsur raised an interesting topic and we are still posting on this
Lena, I was giving advice that if many of the members such as tsur would have taken, less fires would have been created. Yes, I should really be asking the members to STOP SHOUTING AT THE NEW GUYS. But I can only offer advice, and only the new people will take it.
Lena, peace is my way, and I have only good feelings towards you, which is why Im glad you disagree.
But looking at this thread in particular, Tsur was not only shouted down for her veiws, her intelligence was insulted, she was called picked on, and there is little defence for someone if 4 members pick on them at one. People, hand bags are hand bags. Try to remember what It was like when you were new, now Imagine all the members picking on you for one small thing, Thats not the kind of place Id like to stay in.

okay fair enough-you both make good points

...but the original post was insulting. people were obviously offended by the implication that they were dumb, stupid, etc...ridiculous judgements that cannot be made about a person based on their handbag---i could think of some other assumptions that could be made, but the poster said-'dumb'..which was in itself dumb...and from the tone of the post...even i thought it was a high school student, so i really believe that people meant what they said about that...but tsur was definitely outnumbered...i will say that...

gucci also makes a good point about getting a lay of the land before starting a topic...it's just good strategy...so you know what you're dealing with...respond to a couple of topics, get comfortable and then try starting a new one... it's like training wheels on a bike...

...we've been having so many jerks around here, it's hard not to be on the defensive...i know i'm scrutinizing every new member for shades of that mmmoron... :ninja:

i still think it was a rigged topic :innocent:

This thread has really gone on too long and I think I'm coming across as some Nazi freak.

I just wanted to say that when I was a new poster, I was courteous enough not to start a big debate on my very first day. Being a new user at a burgeoning internet forum such as TFS is just like meeting a new group of friends in real life. You're not going to burst out with biting opinions on your first day. When one first comes onto a forum, I consider it common courtesy to lurk for a little to seek out the feel of a board. One may find that a certain forum is not what they are looking for.

faust,

I was just using the MMM thing as an example. I don't know how you or Lena stand on that, I was just trying to draw a comparison.

I was very clear when I gave my advice to new members. It is common courtesy to lurk around the board, I told people to do that, Then Softie and Faust and Lena (sorry, I still love you guys) told me I was wrong.

i absolutely agree ahhGucci

staying out of the bag&labels discussion
i want to ask once more to receive our new members in a most civilised way,
even when they come tough on your personal views.

tFS is a huge site (4000+ members)
its impossible for all of us to agree on everything
all members have a right to voice opinions and should be respected for this
no catfights, no insults, no irony please

thanks for your understanding B)

peace :flower:

i agree that everyone has a right to their opinion...and i think that TFS members have no problem voicing their opinions

if everyone liked everything, fashion would be boring :innocent:
thank you for being reasonable pradaromance & misspurple

as for the 'offended' LV bag-lovers and their offensive posts here,
please do get used to the idea that not everyone shares your taste in bags and keep this civil :flower:
Listen everyone, Im not saying Lena is the bad guy here, see for yourself.
I was just asking if people on the spot could be a bit calmer. I try to be calm, There are many people (all who have left/banned) who i would have said some things about, but self dicipline is important guys.
Tsar did apologize for the 'dumn' comment, but she was still attacked afterwards.
Just be a little more peaceful. :flower: Thanks.

As for the conspiracy, Ive noticed the MODs have been MODing a lot less recently, and the admins seem to be hiding something :ninja:

i did not tell you you were wrong... i just finished saying right above this that you were right...

but i do think this sort of thing is a form of natural selection...people will either rise to the challenge or run away...one of my fave tfs posters started yelling at me the first time i posted and i'm still here...but i lurked first, so i was prepared and stayed calm.... :flower:

i really think this forum is different than others in the types of discussions we have...it may not be for everyone...

i found a few forums before i found this one and i've never been back because they weren't having the types of discussions i wanted to have...

but i still think tsur is a mole
